You could check out the Optoma HD80 to start with. Glowing review at Projector Central http://www.projectorcentral.com/opto...tor_review.htm

This was going to be my choice, but couldn't work it into the space I had. It sounds like you could do it though. Pay particular attention to the placement issues with this pj in the review.

I ended up going with a Pearl once I found that the Optoma wouldn't fit. Unfortunately I haven't kept up with pj's that are newer (i.e. the last 6 months) so don't know if there is a better value around. That Optoma was sub-$3000 1080P and DLP which was unheard of at the time
