The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet was released on 3D Blu-ray in a number of countries worldwide, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia (all Region B locked) Hong Kong and Mexico (both region A locked) and the Netherlands (region free).
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Original post: Anyone else looking forward to this movie? I am! I really hope it gets an US release date soon ! ![]() Synopsis: T.S. Spivet lives on a ranch in Montana with his mother, who is obsessed with beetle morphology, his cowboy father, who was born 100 years too late, and his 14 year old sister, who dreams of being Miss America. T.S. is a 12 year-old child prodigy with a passion for cartography and scientific inventions. One day he receives an unexpected call from the Smithsonian announcing he has won the Baird award for the discovery of the perpetual motion machine and is invited to make a speech. Unbeknownst to all, he decides to head for Washington D.C. crossing the United States on a freight train. But no one at the Smithsonian has any idea that he is only a child. (The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet: An IMAX 3D Experience will be released to select IMAX theatres in France only.) The 3D looks great! ![]() ![]() Last edited by the13thman; 02-27-2021 at 05:59 PM. |

Better 3D than Hugo, sounds good. I think because Hugo came out during a time when few movies were filmed in 3D, and because the movie has some very strong layering most of the way, I rank it as one of the best 3D examples around.
I bet if this does well in France, it'll reach other countries also. |

JPJ is saying that the Weinstein's want to "americanize" it - JPJ says that is basically impossible due to it being created with a French/ Canadian influence and idea set. In June the first presentation rights lapse and JPJ and the producers have the right to release it on blu-ray and theatrically internationally. |

I read the book and I'm a huge Jean Pierre jeunet fan but I didn't really like this movie- It wasn't bad, it just felt like it was missing something- It really was filmed for the 3d medium though, perfectly framed shots that actually allowed the viewer to appreciate the 3d in each frame. Where Hugo started out with that ridiculous tracking shot that didn't allow your eyes to orient to the 3D, this film doesn't do that and allows the viewer the proper time to acclimate to 3D, very wise choice by Jeunet.

Would you mind letting us know if you could whether this is 100% English friendly release? I'm just a bit concerned about the possibility of French subs being hardcoded onto either the 2D or 3D movie. Many thanks mate.
