I didn't assume anything. It just makes sense that they would try to tie them in together somehow, like they do with everything else.

I just think its Fine by itself without a sequel that's all Besides im just grateful there doing a Re-rendering at all . unlike Shrek 1-3 witch was converted because Dreamworks doesn't take good care of there assets unlike pixar.

Wait. What do you mean, "why do people assume Incredibles 2 is announced just because Incredibles 1 is getting a 3D treatment"?

Its been announced there will be a sequel right here:

Am I reading all this correctly? I'm just surprised considering Disney pulled a stop since the Little Mermaid. Either way, I'm for it. I've never experienced these movies in theatres.
Disney's opening a ride based on Ratatouille at Disneyland Paris this summer, so not surprising to see them re-visit the title.

I watched Incredibles last night for the first time. It was ok but not the best pixar movie. I like Nemo, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc./U, and the Toy Story's better.

The only pixar movies better than the Incredibles are Wall-E, Up, and the Toy Story's. Definitely better than Nemo and Monsters Inc and on the same level as Ratatouille.

And I would argue that the Toy Story films, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and WALL-E are all better than Up, which many, in turn, would argue is the best Pixar film. Hmmm....

They're ALL winners!

Pixar. Can't believe how many classic movies they've released in a row.

It's either:
A) the pattern that most of their re-renderings have been re-rendering old movies to bring them into line with new 3D sequels (TS1+2, Cars 1, Nemo, Monsters Inc.),
or
B) Wishful thinking. Plain ol' blind, naive, wide-eyed, fan-pathetic wishful thinking.

My guess is on B.

(Right now, Pixar's word is that they're "unsure of their strategy" on how to release it, meaning that they don't know whether to take it almost straight to disk like Cars, or give it a theatrical week in the summer since they don't have anything theatrical this year, even though Disney's boardroom is going to throw Monsters Inc. back in their faces every time they bring up the idea.
I'm also putting money on theatrical, but it sounds like it's going to be a tough battle for them.)

Or, C)... you could actually scroll up, read the thread, and realize that the sequel has already been announced...

I see it's "In development", and I see they've hired a writer. Call me when they have a trailer.

So, anyway -- when do you think the film will be set -- Dash an older teenager, Violet a young woman, and the Parrs struggling with the off ramp of middle age?

I certainly hope there's been a progression of time; not as much as Toy Story 3, but a few years at least. She was - 13? - in The Incredibles, so maybe Vi is about to graduate, putting Dash at 15 if it's five years later. Bob was already having struggles with being a super in the first, so he and Helen would have to struggle with being five years older and the dilemma of, do we keep this up? Or do we kind of step back a little and hand it over to the younger generation?

Yeah, and then Brenda Chapman had to ruin the whole darn streak with her Lifetime Network movie.

After seeing this thread bumped to the top for the past few days and learning of the possible sequel, I'm in the mood to rewatch this right now!
