The blu-ray technology has the potential to produce an outstanding picture even on a very large screen limited by typical real estate restrictions. I think any improvements above and beyond blu-ray would be not significant in a home environment. Therefore, my conclusion is that the blu-technology will be around well into the future. The displays may change, players may change, sound systems may change, industry technical processes will be improved however the blu-ray technology will stay around for sometime to come. Hence, IMO, your blu-ray collection will last for a very long time (provided the original material is transferred with all due diligence).
