Default Buy BD-1500 or wait for Sony S350

Hi , I'm new here and it's my first post

Today I just bought Sony 32XBR6, so I need a Blu-ray player. Question is I can't decide to get the new samsung 1500 or get a cheap upscaling DVD player and wait for july sony S350.

I want no PS3, I could get a the samsung BD1500 at local bestbuy for $360 after 10% off. Any input is appreciated. thanks

I would go with the 1500. It will do everything the Sony will, and be cheaper to boot.

You can get the 1500 at WM for $348

I was over at Best Buy, and got a look at the player. It actually has a much slimmer look than its predecesor the 1400 BD-P. I own the 1400 and I am very am happy with it. My main complaint about the 1400 is the lenght of time it takes for the player to open the BD tray after the "open" button is selected.<<<ridiculous.

Go here https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=40461 and read up on it. I just bought a 1500 at Wal Mart for $348.00 and so far this player is rock solid. Samsung has finally produced a fantastic player at an extremely competitive market price.

I might pickup the 1500 tomorrow at bestbuy, but I afraid I'll regret not to wait longer for the Sony S350

By the way, if I wait for the S350 that would match with my Sony XBR6

1500 is only 5.1 audio and S350 is 7.1 audio. depends on your home theatre set up.

I use the stock tv audio, so you think it's a good choice over the sony S350 ?

Umm, not true.

The 1500 has 2 channel analog outs. I believe the 350 will have 2.0 or 5.1 analog outs, not 7.1.

Both players will bitstream 5.1 or 7.1 to a proper receiver.

Yes. I imagine the performance will be very similar on both players. Sammy is cheaper at WM and available now.

If you prefer Sony, just wait.

You might consider what you will want in the future though. If you do eventually want to upgrade to a 7.1 receiver for high def audio, you won't be able to if you get the Samsung. If you don't see yourself doing that or will only get a 5.1 system, then get the Samsung.

I wouldn't wait a month or so for sony if there's little difference between those two. Isn't life too short to waste with SD?

The Samsung will bitstream 5.1 and 7.1, just like the Sony.

The Samsung will ABSOLUTELY do 7.1.

The upcoming Sony does have some benefits over the 1500. While the 1500 is definitely faster than previous models, the Sony 350 is supposed to start most movies in less than 10 seconds. Also, Sony has been better with firmware updates than Samsung has, so if being able to play new titles when they are released is important to you, I would wait on the Sony.
