I wouldn't count on it. In the past, they've never price matched ImportCDs, DeepDiscount, or any similar sites.

I've always wanted to see it. Is it worth a blind buy?

If you're a fan of '80s slasher movies, absolutely.

I am It's just the more 'obscure' ones usually are bad(and not in a good way). But I hope the film is good, since it's been on my radar to see for years. But since I never could find the vhs for rental as a kid in the 90's, nor the dvd releases this century, and the sale prices were too high. I never took the chance yet on the film. It'd be great if it turns out to be a gem like The Burning was when I finally saw that after years of wanting to see it once I could locate a copy.

I wouldn't exactly call this one "obscure".

It was popular enough to receive a big-budget Hollywood remake, Sorority Row.

+1. Yeah this is not a obscure flick at all. It's on it's 3rd DVD release and now blu-ray. It's worth a buy for sure.

I think some think it's obscure because the dvds were never super-easy to find and kept going in and out of print. But if you go back further to VHS era, it was a mainstay at all rental stores, even Blockbuster.

House on Sorority Row isn't obscure among "slasher enthusiasts"; otherwise I'd say it's pretty much unknown. Most folks probably weren't even aware that Sorority Row was a remake.

I watched this in the year 2000 and sort of liked it.

However, I tried rewatching recently and it did not hold up for me at all.

One part that is a pain in the a88 is the character of Jenny (it's close to the name or is the name)

[Show spoiler]There is a whole party going on in the next room, yet she runs upstairs when the killer breaks in instead of going to the party. Then she twists in a circle and drops her knife. Then she goes to the bathroom and flushes the toilet so the killer knows exactly where she is

That's not the only problem... I just find the movie boring now and I didn't in the year 2000. I didn't like The Prowler either but never did.

Every slasher flick that's been described as "boring" or "slow moving" has inexplicably found it's way to the top of my favorite movies list I've even recently discovered some films that have been described as dull that have become favorites, like Final Exam.

I never ran into this film in Blockbuster, Hollywood Video or an old mom and pop rental shop before it closed(and they had tons of vhs from the birth of vhs to the late 1990's). So it's only a title I kept stumbling across in film review guides and or seeing mentioned in Fangoria and such.

Also outside of the slasher fan/horror fan, the film is pretty obscure, hence use of the term. Just because it received a remake doesn't mean it was well known. Some producers remake 'small' films thinking no one will know it's a remake which is unfortunately true. Speaking of which, I haven't seen Sorority Row either, but want to, since it sounds like fun from what I've heard.

Maybe we had better Blockbusters around here, but I know I saw this around plenty growing up. My girlfriend knew it (and loved it) despite not being much of a horror fan when I met her, and she grew up in Atlanta. Seems to me like it's everywhere.

The remake is a blast and probably one of the best and funnest remakes since the craze re-started in 03 with TCM and Dawn of the Dead. SR is easily near the top of the remake list with the perfect blend of horror, humor and humanity (my lame try to get a 3rd H letter for nudity)!

I also think the remake, Sorority Row is fun as hell.

It's like a Late 90s Scream rip-off set in the late Y2K decade. Phenomenal. The fast dialogue, witty puns, and the outrageous "penetration" innuendo kills.

It will probably will a couple months after it's released. But sometimes they drop in price a day before or on release day. I got it locked in at $21.98 but if the price drops before release day, then amazon will give me that lower price.
