Anyway I picked up 52nd Street for $14.99, Boys and Girls by Bryan Ferry for $11.97 (Multi-channel, includes "Slave to Love" and "Don't Stop the Dance" with great reviews on sa-cd.net) and Marvin Gaye on DVD-Audio for $14.99 because it was $4 cheaper than the SACD.
I'll have to look into Boys and Girls. The Marvin Gaye Collection on DVDA is nice (haven't listened to it for quite a while though).

I'm going to pick up Goodbye Yellow Brick Road SACD 30th Anniversary from Best Buy online, as they have it for $19.99 right now which is DIRT CHEAP for that 3-disc release.
19.99 is a steal! I have the DVDA of GYBR which includes the bonus DVD. I have yet to watch the documentaries though
But the music and the surround mix are phenomenal

Anyone excited for the apparently new remasters of half a dozen Dead Can Dance SACDs that are coming out in July?

Definitely going to pick up Dark Side of the Moon and preordering 3 of the Dead Can Dance SACDs.

It's a shame that there are no multi-track masters for these, otherwise they'd be multi-channel releases.

I will still pick up the album with The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove on it (Into The Labyrinth); very cool tune. If I like the rest of it, I may look into Dead Can Dance a little more.

sorry doby, i guess there was a translation problem with my computer. i meant to say they're CRAP , and i consider them an offshoot of emo, therefore emo. not to disparage you in any way though

and "indie" was a term that referred to independant bands, until they got sogned and triggered a wave of bands that all sound the same. but i don't want to turn this thread into a "i hate DCFC for these reasons".

my sacds shipped today and my other 3 arrived yesterday and today i'm excited.

YES!!! I have preordered the entire set of these. Since Garden of Arcane Delights is a limited run of 3000 (the rest being 6000), I had to make sure I would get one. Brendan has made mention of a possible box to house these in. Can't wait to hear them!!!

Or you could get it from YourMusic.com (BMG) for $14 shipped:

http://www.yourmusic.com/browse/albu...CO_1057_ALBUMS

They have 4 of the other 5 classic EJ SACD remasters for $7 each too (I bought them all a few months ago from this site.) You have to sign up I think, but you can just place them all in your cart, buy them outright, and then cancel. They have a few other SACDs too.

I do not have any of the Dead Can Dance on SACD but probably have most of their CD releases and most of it is very good. I was thinking about replacing them all with SACD versions.

Yep, that's what I saw on the Genesis web site a few months back when this was to be released last March. I was listening to "And Then There Were Three" last night on SACD for the first time and it sounded fantastic. Can't wait for the latest collection to get here.

There is nothing that sounds like Death Cab, they are truely awesome. The Postal Service was a breath of fresh air on the music scene as well. Ben Gibbard is a lyrical genius. There is nothing EMO about them. Listen before judging....

sacd is the first time i've listened to this album in its entirety. it's the ONE genesis album i never really paid attention to.

you know what? i really dig it.

i bought the import box sets with the sacd+NTSC DVD+extra disc. love the interviews. can't wait to see if they managed to get gabriel to do interviews for 70-74.

listened, judged. music is life so i don't pass judgement unless i have listened. sorry you all feel the need to defend such a crappy band. come on, calm down a bit. as for the postal service............i suppose i will refrain from stating what that "breathe of fresh air" smells like to me, since wuss rock seems to be a touchy subject round here. dammit i tried not to divert this thread. i'm popping in eric clapton right now.

Many of the Sony SACDs sounded terrible.
Universal made the best-sounding discs.

That's nothing. I got it at YourMusic.com for US$13.99 including shipping. It's US$13.99 because it's a 2-disc set. Other single-disc SACDs over there, including Sheryl Crow's Globe Sessions, Elton John's Captain Fantastic, are just US$6.99 including shipping.

If you're in the US and want to build up your SACD collection fast, YourMusic.com is the way to go. After you got what they have, which is about 40 titles, you terminate the account.

The only Sony SACD that I've heard which I thought was terrible was Meatloaf "Bat out of Hell"

The Billy Joel SACD's are amongst my favourites and they're from Sony. (Columbia)
Aerosmith's "Toys in the Attic"
Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds"

The Sony umbrella has released some amazing titles across all genres and numerous classical DSD recordings.

A lot of people seem to diss Sony for the 2-channel recordings, but I have yet to find anything wrong with the fidelity on some of the early STEREO recordings like Thriller, Journey and some of the Dylan SACD's.

I don't find much that justifies that blanket statement.

Hey everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

I think Ben is a talented songwriter and I think their live show is excellent.
I only wish they'd release Plans on SACD, one album is not enough.

I think the only one that needs to calm down is you, you're posting smileys like crazy.

Also, I don't think you've ever heard Postal Service, because even by the most expanded definition of the word they are not "rock"; they're electronic.

They're also "indie" because they're with Sub Pop. It's Sub Pop's best selling record since another indie release called "Bleach" by Nirvana.

I think people who call talented musicians crappy are either jaded, uneducated or looking for attention.

Just wanted to point out the Circuit City (online) has a great selection of SACD and DVD-A and usually great prices - many titles under $14. I believe DSOM is 13.99. Also the Norah Jones SACD is 13.99 which is a great sounding SACD.

Also, as with Blu rays, it is always best to check reviews first before purchasing.

Is it really? I've read angry messages from people on amazon stating that it's nothing more than the Redbook CD mixed to SACD, and no better. Lots of negative feedback on this title.

Don't know anything about that. To me though, this is a very good sounding SACD and I have listened to it countless times. The 2 channel is better than the mix, but both are good.

This was based on a wavelength study of the stereo layer of the SACD with the CD layer. Apparently they took the CD master tapes and created the SACD stereo layer with it. The multichannel mix uses different master tapes, of course.
