I couldn't find a dedicated thread for Scream's edition of The Beast Within, so here are the extras for Arrow's upcoming release:

Quote:
- New audio commentary with director Philippe Mora moderated by author Calum Waddell
- I Was a Teenage Cicada: The Making of The Beast Within - An in-depth look back at Philippe Mora’s creature feature classic featuring new interviews with writer Tom Holland, actors Paul Clemens, John Dennis Johnston, Katherine Moffat and effects wizard Garry Elmendorf
- Storyboarding The Beast – An all-new animated featurette in which Philippe Mora discusses the film’s journey from storyboard to screen
- Image Gallery – Including rare production stills from the private collection of star Paul Clemens plus new photographs of various special effects props
- Original Trailer
- Reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned artwork by Marc Schoenbach
- Collector’s Booklet featuring new writing on the film by Lee Gambin, author of Massacred by Mother Nature: Exploring the Natural Horror Film plus a contemporary article on the film’s production, all illustrated with original stills and artwork.
The doc looks pretty comprehensive, but not enough to warrant a double-dip from me.

I haven't decided if I like THE BEAST WITHIN enough to double (triple?) dip. I watched my old DVD copy a few weeks before Shout released their Blu-ray and while I got into the film it didn't really impress me all that much. Then after spot-checking the BD I thought it looked very good so unless Arrow comes up with a better transfer I'm sticking with the SF version.

Not me guys. Once I hear about a bluray release I throw my DVD out the window right away. That's how much I enjoy bluray upgrades.

lol yeah, the thing is i really only ever list my horror titles (and not even all of em) just like i only ever do youtube updates for my horror films, posters, figures etc, yet i've got tons of non horror blus from "Gone With the Wind" to "Pillow Talk" "Teen Wolf" to "2001 A Space Odyssey" i'm just horror mad mostly. Thanks for looking though Prestige.

Me too. How can anyone watch a DVD on an HDTV. Watching a film on Blu is like watching it for the first time.

The only DVDs that I have upgraded from DVD to Blu are Psycho II/III. Demons/Demons 2 are ones I really want to upgrade but I'm not paying hundreds for two movies.

Oh I think its pretty easy..First you turn on your TV, then turn on the blu ray player, hit the open button on your remote, gently take your DVD out of the case, put it in the player , press "play" and watch away.
Those general comments about how anyone can watch a DVD on an HDTV from blu ray fanboys are really amazingly ridiculous, I mean seriously ? I've got tons of DVDs from Warner Achive, Charlie Chan sets, the Blind Dead coffin set..
Its easy and at the moment the only way to watch. Of course id upgrade but in the meantime I have movies I like on disc format

I'm no Blu fanboy, in fact I just got into the format last December.

I have two eyes that see a low rez picture on a 60 inch tv. It is the reason why I upgraded Psycho II/III. The DVDs were unbearable. I have a good quality Blu player, too. It's not a knock on DVDs, though. They had their time. I was an early adopter, bought my first player in 1998, while everyone else was still using VHS. Times and technology change.

There are still so many DVDs not on Blu, which is frustrating. I will say though, the American Dad DVDs look HD quality. Maybe animation is more forgiving.

+1

I still have tons of DVDs and most of them look great on my HDTV. I've got a couple DVDs from Scorpion Releasing that look awesome and look almost as good as a blu-ray.

Exactly! Besides if you are into Horror and low-budget films as I am... You know there are a lot of films in this category that will take awhile to be released on BD. Therefore, We have no choice but to watch certain DVDs. I would for sure not watch DVD at all unless I had too, But some movies have not made it to BD yet.

Exactly.
The only worthy dvds are those not on BD yet. Even those that have extensive extras will only be added to the much superior BD, for their extras...not the theatrical presentation.
Has nothing to do with being a fanboy, just wanting the best.
Just like how I favor a BMW over a Honda.

That is a shame, at least, for the US version. Sounds like the UK version is the way to go.

Nope. US and UK versions are both missing the same bits from the film. So, a bust all around.

Indeed. One thing I have noticed is that recent DVD releases sometimes barely look much different than the Blu (V For Vendetta being a prime example). Fringe also looks pretty damn good upscaled.

I'm certainly not re-buying everything. My absolute favourites, particularly older movies when the difference is obvious and immense, if the transfer seems generally judged to be a good one, sure. But everything? Bollocks to that!
