I just got off the phone with a "level 2" samsung technician, a waste of 20 minutes. I just bought a bd-p1500 and I am irritated with the lack of a simple resume function (you can't stop, then power off). According to samsung, there is no way around this and they are unsure if this will ever be fixed with a firmware upgrade. Looks like the bd-p1500 is another loser going back to best buy. I hope sony can provide this basic feature on their upcoming model. Am I just crazy or don't you expect to be able to stop a movie and resume the next day for $400 without much thinking? This can't be that hard of a feature to add! It's so ridiculous that they haven't figured this one out yet.

This Samsung player does resume playback from power off but only on non-Java discs. Just press the power button to turn off the unit (DO NOT PRESS THE STOP BUTTON) during playback. The next time you turn it on, it will resume right where you left off.

Am I just crazy to think this warrants returning this player?

Yeah, I know where you're going with this. I'd say return your 1500 and be gone with ya. Let's talk about something really worth talking about here with the 1500.

Stop today and resume tomorrow. Give me a break.

Does not decode DTS Master Audio.................F*%$#@#G paperweight!!! What is wrong with samsung is they are s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o desperate to try to beat sony , they are rushing units out to compete.(delaying the 1500 for BD 2.0, should be the first clue?)Don't waste the green. This is meant to be a qiuck fix, like all of their previous doomed players........all 5 of them. They come up with new technology every so often, but for the most part they are living in sony's shadow.

As you all know by now, there are several players on the market(or about to be released this summer), that are loaded with all of the goodies! Why would ANYONE WASTE THEIR MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT WON'T QUITE DO THE REAL JOB THE RIGHT WAY?

It's not that big of a deal, but $400 is a lot for a product that lacks a simple function that any $30 wal-mart dvd player has. I waited for months for this player to come out and this dissappointed me. You are right, I will probably not return it, but does anyone know if this is a *standard* deficiency with BD players?

It can be according to the Java content, as stated above already. I paid $348.00 at Wal-Mart. How did they get you for $400.00?

Those $30 Walmart players won't play BD movies though. I'll take the $400 BD player instead.

Keep your eyes on the Samsung website now. They are listing the 1500 already for a User Manual download in PDF. Remember, this unit will have a FW update that will take it from Profile 1.1 to 2.0.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according the Circuit City website, the 1500 also plays MP3's, WMA's and DIvx. Is this a misprint?

BD player are more Computers than DVD. DVD is just a small set of fonction setted back in 1997 witch you're stuck doing.

BD use JAVA witch is a complete programmable environnment. Just like a computer, it need to load it's application before playing the movie.

For now, when a Java title is Stopped, the Java is cleared from memory and have to be reloaded to restart. I'am pretty sure they'll find a wait. But first DVD players didn't have Auto Play feature either, it took some time before they could do that. Even today DVD player have Layer Breaks witch i found more distracting then Bluray not being able to resume..

Can you use the Bookmark function (page 57 of the manual) to overcome the inability to resume?

I may be completely off base here, but don't some blu-ray discs have a bookmarking feature, I thought bookmarking was for exactly that purpose. No?
