If you read the books some systems do remain loyal to the Empire. But its very disorganized with Imperial leaders often fighting each other.
Is Carrie going to be in it? I heard shes having some health problems that could put a wrinkle in that. |

Is that the weight issue that's going around about her? I've heard something but I wasn't sure what it was, never read into it really

Thank you! It's also a reason why I hate coming to this thread. But I'm quite content in just waiting for the movie to be released.
In JJ Abrams I trust! |

As for the bolded part, you're right, a potential "danger" of Abrams being as huge a fan as he is could be that he lets his love for the OT cloud his judgement. To be fair though, that already happened with the PT. Too much fanservice where Lucas insisted on revisiting every possible character and location from the OT, which makes the galaxy feel very small when they've all met each other and been to the same places, and also leaves some things not making a whole lot of sense. Very interesting. AT-AT's are cool, and it'd be fun to see them again, but I do wonder if it makes sense in-universe? I mean, looking at the PT the Republic's machines of war kept changing, until in ROTS they started resembling what would, 20 years later, become what the Empire uses throughout the OT. 30+ years after ROTJ, would the same stuff still be in use? I guess one could argue that, if we're dealing with remnants of the Empire, they wouldn't really be able to design and build too much new stuff and it'd make sense to make do with what they had. |

![]() Considering that this film will be set 30 years after ROTJ, I'm guessing that there will be Imperial remnants spread throughout the galaxy which would explain the AT-AT. |

Disney’s Alan Horn on Mastering the ‘Star Wars’-ian Look’
Some scenes for “Star Wars Episode VII” have already been shot in the Middle East, Disney chairman Alan Horn confirmed, while principal photography is slated to begin in May at U.K.’s Pinewood Studios. “We did some second-unit work in Abu Dhabi,” Horn said, speaking at the Bloomberg and Tribeca Film Festival Business of Entertainment Breakfast Tuesday in New York. “We have to give that the ‘Star Wars’-ian look, if I can use that as an adjective — we need to go to these places.” Horn said casting is “almost complete,” as he indicated two weeks ago, but that Disney is not prepared to make any announcements yet. “I’ve learned to be very careful about ‘Star Wars,’” Horn said. “If I say, ‘There will be no skateboards in ‘Star Wars’… that gets headlines.” Variety has reported that “Girls” actor Adam Driver was in talks to play the villain, while actors being considered for the lead role include Ed Speleers, John Boyega, Jesse Plemons, Matthew James Thomas and Ray Fisher. Horn said Disney has not determined the final budget for “Star Wars Episode VII.” It will be in the range of “large, tentpole kinds of movies” in the neighborhood of $175 million to $200 million. “We need to give the audience … essentially a full meal in return for their affection for and devotion to this property,” he said. Horn is no stranger to big budgets: Before joining Disney in 2012, he was president and COO of Warner Bros. Entertainment, which under his tenure released the eight-film “Harry Potter” series, “The Dark Knight” and other pics. Horn said later this week he will fly to London to discuss production design and screenplay with director J.J. Abrams. “Star Wars Episode VII” is scheduled to premiere Dec. 18, 2015. Disney plans to release the next two “Star Wars” films in 2017 and 2019, but Horn said it has not been determined if those will also have December preem dates. Studio also plans to release two “Star Wars” spinoff movies, in 2016 and 2018. http://variety.com/2014/film/news/st...bi-1201160927/ |
