I've given up discs for iTunes digital copies and have amassed a collection of over 300 movies. All of these movies can be played on my mobile devices and TVs, but for some reason, the iTunes extras included with almost every major title can not. To watch these special features, you need a Mac or PC.
Does this strike anyone else as being unusual? Apple's biggest products are by far the iPhone and iPad and customers are probably still more likely to watch iTunes videos on their Apple TV over their Macs or PCs. Heck, I don't even own a Mac or PC. It seems natural for the extras to be accessible right along the feature on the devices most customers are using. In fact, I even emailed Tim Cook about this to ask that this be implemented. I find it sort of baffling. Is there any explanation for this? |

I think they'll get this done and when they do, I'm definitely done with discs. |

I have been using DMA, and I agree, it's a great job. It's great finally having access to iTunes Extras for some of my favorite titles. |

Right-click on the Extras file (the .ite file), and select 'Show Package Contents'. Copy-Paste the .m4v vids you want in the 'videos' folder' and sync them to your iPad.
A bit of a hassle and you don't get the menu and everything but it's better than nothing I guess. |

Yeah it is. Did you see any Disney SD purchases convert to HD within iTunes? I noticed after connecting the Disney app with iTunes, some SD purchases or digital copies were converted to HD.

I've never purchased any SD movies, but what you say doesn't surprise me. I've had HD movies replaced with remastered HD movies in iCloud before. |

Disney movies purchased directly thru iTunes in SD were not and will not be upgraded by Disney Movies Anywhere. |

Im looking forward to the Apple ID sharing feature. My brother or parents never buy a thing on iTunes. Now I can make myself the "parent" with them as my "dependents" and they can have my library of movies.

Actually, they went live on Apple TV back in July...
![]() With iOS8 in a few days, Extras will be available on your mobile devices (iPhone/iPad), that's the new info officially announced earlier this week. |

The thing is, I don't think any TV series has iTunes Extras (yet). After all, TV shows and their seasons are sold more like songs and albums (especially since both TV shows and music have complete a season/album features). Edit: ok, some TV shows like Agents of Shield and Game of Thrones have extra features with purchase of a season pass or a completed TV season. They are more like season only features (kind of like Album only songs). Unlike Extras, you can download them as separate features and sync them as separate features like a song or episode. But there isn't a iTunes extras or iTunes LP like menu for TV shows (I think). Last edited by disneywildcat; 09-12-2014 at 08:48 PM. |
