Does Vertigo have all the previous extras? I have the Legacy DVDs of Vertigo and Rear Window Nice packaging, but takes up more space.

USA iTunes Redemption

Can anyone specify whether or not the digital redemption code included in "The Birds" release redeems on iTunes in HD or SD? I know that when Universal released the DVD edition last year the redemption code only redeemed in SD on iTunes. Any info is appreciated, thank you!

Technically not one of the stores you mentioned but ...

I saw The Birds, Psycho , Vertigo, Rope , The Trouble with Harry , Rear Window, North by Northwest and Saboteur at Costco an hour ago

I noticed that Vertigo had DTS-HD 5.1 ,
unlike my U.S. Boxed set which has DTS-HD 2.0

By the way, I hate the high contrast -photoshopped covers but the price was right

My Dad ordered a copy of Vertigo so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

The one in the boxset has 5.1 too. The disc should be identical to the one found in the Masterpiece collection.

I just ordered all four of these. Yes, I know getting the Essentials Collection is cheaper, but I really wanted them as individual releases. I'll probably sell all the DCs so I can at least knock some of the dent out.

Totally, You're right
My mistake , don't know why I thought it had DTS-HD 2.0 ,
Wishful thinking I guess

My thoughts on the individual releases. Looks like the discs are identical to the masterpiece collection box set, right down to the disc art. Why are these the same when all of the other individual films (and I think in the essentials collection as well) have the plain black background?

I hate that the spines are not matching the others in the collection. They all have a little picture of an actor and they omit the Hitchcock self portrait caricature. Why? I understand they want to advertise Ultraviolet download, which is nice to have, but they already list it on the back cover and a sticker on the front cellophane and on the sheet inside. Why must they plaster it on the front cover artwork?

Totally agree. It ruins the releases front artwork.

Yeah, they should just put a giant sticker on top of the plastic wrapping, that way people clearly see it when they buy it. But having it on the artwork is annoying, especially when it gets used or I sell it away because then the UV is gone, and yet it still says it right on the blu ray case.

I'm just gonna order Rear Window and Psycho off amazon. Called both Bestbuy and Target and neither had it, not that I really expected them to.

This is really weird. It makes no sense why they didn't use the plain black disc art they used in the Essentials collection as well as the remaining individual releases. It is almost like Universal had a warehouse of discs pressed for the Masterpiece collection that they wanted to get rid of.

BN.com has these for $13.99 each. That seems to be the lowest price online. I didn't see them at Best Buy yesterday.

This Psycho re-release is probably the same old US disc with the lossy mono audio with some of the trailers and AHP episode missing right?

I have the UK disc and everything on it completely compatible with US players but it does have some UK-specific stuff at the beginning about the British film industry that would require Universal to re-press it for a US release.

Only The Birds is available through BN though, the others are through another seller, so you wouldn't get free shipping. If you are ordering more than one of these, the bestbuy.com prices are probably your best bet.

Yesterday, I ordered Vertigo and Rear Window separately through Barnes and Noble using 20% coupons. Instead of $13.99, I received each for $11.19. WITH free shipping.

so I need to be sure of something; these separate releases are the same transfer quality of the Essential Collection? At 37.99 on Amazon, I'm thinking I'd just go that route as I have zero Hitchcock in my collection.

Someone confirm plz
