I'm super excited for the 66 Batman series to be released, and I can't wait, but I also think that, because it's such a monumental release, this has sort of been overshadowed. Knowing WB and their reputation for rehashing, though, it's most likely with good reason. Nevertheless, it'd be awesome if we got some info out of SDCC about this set, as well.

Lol, the only fan edit of Batman 89' that I know of is an "80's edition" that not only adds Prince's "Batdance" to the film, but also adds in a ton of other 80's songs by the likes of Madonna and Cindy Lauper lol.

I second this! I remember thinking at the time that the Prince soundtrack was the only thing keeping this from being the perfect movie. My tastes have matured some, but I still think the movie would be vastly improved by the deletion of Prince's music.

I don't think that works. Prince's music is only used as a practical in the film. In the sense that virtually every time you hear it, there is an actual loudspeaker, car stereo or boom box playing it. The parade scene and the scene at the art museum would be absurd if you replaced the pop music with underscore.
Unless you mean that Prince should be replaced with Oingo Boingo songs, which, other than satisfying a matter of taste, wouldn't change these scenes much at all. |
