That sucks - I've always been quite proud of Paradigm keeping everything here.

Hopefully the Studio and Sigs are still all done in Canada. I'd like to get a pair of Sig S8's some day in the future....like far in the future. ($$)

Nope, all of their lines are still manufactured in Canada. I was given misinformation and passed it on, my fault, I apologize. (Mississauga, and I think Woodbridge?)

Per the rep, (distributor rep, not Para direct rep) they are still self-contained in Canada. Which is a good thing.

Actually a little more rumored info is that some of the components in the monitor line (drivers/x-overs) are in facts manufactured overseas, then assembled in Canada. The same can supposedly be said for the B&W 300 series speakers. Evidently you will have a hard time getting a Para/B&W sales rep to confirm that, but evidently if you can ask someone who works directly for the company (not in sales) they can confirm it.

Since you live in Canada, their number is 905-696-2845. If you are so inclined, you may be able to find out.

Even more rare then!

I thought for sure Focal did! Everyone is using Beryllium for their tweeters now!!

I suppose if I was really forced to pick it might be the Nola Grand Reference IV.1

If you look on this link the Nola, the Ascendo, the Cary speakers, and the Audes Orpheus all use the same "woofer". Also the VSA, VR11, VR9, VR7 use the same one.

Cool. What's the projected price of the new CLX? And is there a typo on ML's web site? It says the CLX only goers down to ~50 Hz, which I find hard to believe! (Unless they're intended to be used with a pair of Decents is...)

The CLX is the first pure electrostat from Martin Logan in a while right? (At least since the CLS). I believe them when they say it only goes down to 50hz - the CLS was intended to be mated with a sub woofer - most often I found them mated with the Chiro tower subs (4-10" inch drivers per cabinate, sold in pairs, if I'm not mistaken). There was another sub that was mated with them alot too - name slips me right now. The main problem was that you could rarely find a sub "fast" enough to keep up with the CLS's . I don't think there will be a problem this time

Did you hear them from his house or yours? How much is he asking for a pair of these? I think the list is around $125k, but not sure whether delivery and installation are included.

Estimated price $20K. No typo, the 50Hz is correct and prospective owners I know are thinking subwoofer(s). It's so new there have been no reviews yet, only the reports from the Munich show. These were extremely favorable even though there was no subwoofer in sight (in fact, I think it won some sort of "Best in Show" award).

That's very impressive, and only $20K--I could afford that! :-) I think the Decents are about $3K each, so you're looking at about $25K for a pair of full rang speakers. Very nice.

I can see I need to start saving some more cash for AV hardware! :-)

JL subs are some of the best subs I have heard bar none. I have never heard the Fathom, but the other 3 are fantastic. They are not the best for music (but still do a solid job), but for movies they are just great.

They are expensive, but IMO worth it. They also have a cool self-calibrating feature, but it acts similarly to Audyessy (for the sub anyway), which seems to be in ALOT of receivers nowadays.

The "best" sub I have ever heard was a Krell sub that I heard 6-7 years ago that was teamed with the Krell LAT1s. It was a passive sub that weighed like 450lbs. (ridiculous)

A close 2nd are the JBL synthesis 1 subs (also passive, one on each side). Which we have on display. I am constantly amazed at how hard the 18" drivers hit.

My uncle has a 5.1 Vienna Accoustics setup that sounds better than most 7.1set ups i've heard. He recently told me he has a LIFETIME WARRANTY with them!

I have not speaker shopped before but I like my parent's set of PSB Alphas. When I upgrade my speakers I think I am going with either PSB or Paradigm.

I build my own currently on "set" 15 I keep changing and adjusting based on the best drivers available.

I use an active crossover system cutom built but I am checking out the digital systems since I can get finer control on the phase response.

The room is as important as the system you play in it. Some money spent on room treatments is money well spent.
