Just finished watching The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet from the French Blu-ray 3D.
The bad news is that the disc is Region B-locked and is only available from Europe from Amazon.fr. (France).

The good news is that the 3D version has the original English DTS HD MA 5.1 sound track as one of the choices and NO forced subtitles as an option.

Impressive 3D: The native-3D cinematography is intensely STRONG throughout and has now become my #1 choice for an example of the best for 3D realism available as an experience.

Feel it is an injustice for fellow U.S. enthusiasts to miss out on such a 3D experience where only a region-free player can provide opportunity.

Sounds great! Thanks for your thoughts. I hope to see this movie soon so I will try and import the 3D edition. I appreciate your checking it out and sharing this news. I noticed you accidentally linked to the 2D edition so here's the proper link: http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00G...A1X6FK5RDHNB96

That way others can import the right version. Thanks again!

Thanks for the review and the region confirmation! This movie needs U.S. distribution.

That's absurd.

Thank you so much for your comments Paul, that's great news. I will definitely order this now. So glad there's no forced French subs etc.

X-Men has wonderful consistent 3D roundness but this movie tops even that. It's the current reigning king of 3D as far as I am concerned.
Excellent I'm glad I ordered it. Should be here in a day or 2. Thanks for the heads up.

Saw this last night... I'll echo what others have said, great, immersive 3D! The director also uses a lot of pop-out 3D effects to tell the story.

Watched with my kids aged 6 and 9, and was somewhat uncomfortable with the running away message, f**k/s**t and other language, and some of the scenes I wouldn't want kids to think they can ape. Anyway, parents should proceed with caution for younger kids. I think as long as you explain it's just a movie so kids don't take the movie literally, it's fine.

Went ahead and ordered this. If the 3D is as good as what I'm reading, then it's a must-have for me.

I just got this today. I hope to watch it this coming weekend. It was pretty expensive, but is a five disc set and it comes with book of the storyboard, but is all in French.

All in French except inside of the digipack, the part that holds the 5 discs itself. That is surprisingly in English. i.e. A copy of the note T.S. leaves to his family before his trip is on one side, and a corn husk detail description on the other with an eye-contact evaluation of the percentage T.S. estimates his family members look at each other when communicating. Open the digipack sleeve and the map of directions to Coppertop Ranch, his home is also in English.

It has been posted on another site the future UK version will have the English "mother F" word removed in the movie in lite of the scene it is used. The French release has the original English DTS HD MA 5.1 uncensored version.

I got this set for my birthday. Great looking set, but onto the movie. I loved it! The 3D was absolutely gorgeous throughout, superb use of the medium, the director has a beautiful visual style, and like Martin Scorsese and Baz Luhrman, he has really used 3D in a very imaginative and effective way. The scenery and landscapes were gorgeous and astounding to behold and the performances were all excellent. Highly recommended movie.

Hope you enjoy!

Sadly i discovered last night that the making of has no English subtitles and anytime the director is talking on his own, he is speaking in French. There's plenty of English content too so when i watch the whole thing hopefully there won't be too much French. The making of is an hour and nineteen minutes long.

I know this is the 3D section but thought I'd let you know that the 2D set has the same contents except the 3d Blu-ray and the DVD extras disc, keeping the book. Odd choice.

I must say I found the dialogue quite "mumbly" and got here by searching for English Subtitles.

Had a quick flick through, and i can happily report the 3D in this is, in my opinion, 'Reference Quality'.

Jean-Pierre Juenet is a perfect fit for 3D, and he shows just what makes the Medium so Wonderful.
