what i would like to see is a study that takes into consideration a large random sample of HDTV owners, the size and quality of their screen, and how far away they sit. i bet a lot of these hdtv owners have conditions that blu-ray really doesn't make a big difference with.

For example if you have a 32 inch 720p screen and sit 8 feet away, upconverted DVD is going to look very similar to blu-ray.

This could hurt adoption quite a bit, plus these people will be spewing FUD that blu-ray doesn't look that much different than DVD.
