But it seems that maybe the "sell out" helped fund this new restoration?
By the way, so as to avoid any misunderstanding:
Twilight Time doesn't do the restoration.
They are "purchasing" the (rights for the) restoration.

Indeed.

But the sell out probably encouraged Columbia to do it?

I also purchased the Australian version. Will definitely be picking this up,
I'm sure this will sell out fast!

Wait, so Christine is getting a re-release next year? So they're not sticking to their 3 year rule? Interesting...

They said they're re releasing 4 titles later this year and next and said they're re-releasing Christine. No date has been given but on its face that's what it looks like. Maybe they just do an extra 2000 a la the upcoming Blob run. No one is sure as of yet.

I thought all 4 were coming next year.

I'm betting the second run for Christine will be at least 3000, maybe more. It sold out within hours.

It's a Fox property. I'm sure the sell out definitely helped to get Fox to consider doing a restoration of it. I suppose in that respect, it is a little surprising that Fox didn't decide to just release it themselves. I have to imagine that we'll see this new transfer be released directly by them in other regions to help recoup the cost of the restoration.

Wasn't there an extra on one of the lasedisc releases that never made to dvd, or BD? Deleted scenes or something? I don't remember...

Edit: It was alternate scenes from British version... wonder if they'll make it this time.

Last I heard, the print with the alternate scenes was misplaced following mastering of the laserdisc and Fox was unable to locate it. Not sure if that's changed or not, but I'd love to have the British cut with less of Pat Boone's singing, for the sake of showing the film to friends of this day and age.

Given the way Fox has been treating their CinemaScope titles lately, I'm scared that this 'restoration' will have an ugly bluish look not authentic to original release, like the BDs of Carousel and The King and I suffer from (which has been oh so heavily discussed lately). I really hope they get it right, because I didn't buy the first release.

Regardless, I am absolutely psyched for this release and will be preordering it on day one of the pre-order period. I won't miss it this time!
