Just bought a Blu-ray drive for my pc so its time to start buying R1 blues. Was going to start with The fog, Prince of darkness and They live. Anyone know who would be the best shop to buy these from ?

Thanks.

Assuming you are in the UK, I'd say look at buying from Movietyme or DVDWorldUSA. Both are quite popular with UK members here on the forums. DVDWorldUSA even has its on thread in the UK forum section, and they seem to carry all of the Scream titles

I'd wait on They Live, mate. Theres a Japanese version coming and in September and it will probably have a better transfer than the DNR'd (though passable) Shout disc.

I think they do very well for the most part outside of RAVENOUS.

They are given the masters from the studios that they deal with, sometimes they work on them. I wouldn't take the complaints too seriously really; if you like what you see on your TV screen, then that's all that matters really..if you're happy

And even Ravenous isn't quite as bad as most say.

I don't have access to Shout Factory titles because i'm region locked, however, some region B blu rays have used their transfers for their films. I think a fairly well calibrated television will be able to spot the flaws in their transfers.

I run all my player (ps4, xbox one, and R2 player) through a projector so the cheapest way I could think of to play locked discs was to spend £40 on a blu ray drive for my pc, Fingers crossed it works out ok.

i ordered Halloween 2 and 3 from amazon a 3 months ago, and surprisingly both had slips... its still hit or miss out there.

i ordered deadly blessing and prison direct from SF 1 month ago, and no slips. i wrote in about it, and they said to me slips are for initial prints only... so i guess its all up in the air now on the older ones. who knows. lol.

i specifically sought out the rest of my CEs the past 3 months at local stores and was able to acquire the rest from the shelves, slips in tact. including the howling.

good luck though.

I wonder if Scream would have any interest in Cemetery Man (Dellamorte Dellamore)? I believe it's with Fox. Seems more like a Synapse title but maybe Scream would be interested in expanding into the Italian horror release market.

My copy of Deadly Eyes shipped from Blowitoutahere.

I think they'd be interested if they knew who had the rights (and assuming their demands were within reason). Fox apparently does not have the rights to this film anymore.

My copy from them shipped as well

Cemetery Man is kind of a holy grail. I remember it was a big deal when Anchor Bay hinted they had acquired the title in 1993, back when they had a distribution deal with Fox. Fox apparently no longer has the rights (why did they bother picking it up in the first place?). Our best bet is BU or someone with a history of releasing Eurohorror grabbing the rights from the Italian owners. This needs a BIG collector's edition release, not just a quick upgrade.
