Quote:
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray Camille Delamarre's action drama Brick Mansions (2014), starring the late Paul Walker, Robert Maillet, RZA, David Belle, and Carlo Rota. The release will be available for purchase on September 9th.

Based on a script by Luc Besson (Léon: The Professional, The Big Blue) and Bibi Naceri (District B13). In a dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times now house only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the city. For undercover cop Damien Collier (Paul Walker) every day is a battle against corruption. For Lino (David Belle), every day is a fight to live an honest life. Their paths never should have crossed, but when drug kingpin, Tremaine (RZA) kidnaps Lino's girlfriend, Damien reluctantly accepts the help of the fearless ex-convict, and together they must stop a sinister plot to devastate the entire city. With stylized action featuring thrilling Parkour stunts (David Belle is the co-founder of this physical training discipline). Brick Mansions puts an entertaining twist on the action genre.

Note: Brick Mansions is an English-language remake of director Pierre Morel's District B13, which is available on Blu-ray courtesy of Magnolia Pictures. You can see our listing and review of this release here.

Special Features:

Theatrical Version and Unrated Cut of the Film

Wasn't expecting that. I was expecting the usual 2 minute difference on the unrated cuts. Can't wait to get this on blu! I loved this movie in theaters.

Banlieue 13 & Banlieue 13 Ultimatum are miles away in term of quality from this USA remake. it's still good, but the american sauce they put in it is horrible. I was expecting alot more.

I for one did not know that Brick Mansions was a remake of B13 and therefore saw this movie as extremely good. When you compare an original to a remake, the remake most of the time will definitely fall short. That said, I'm afraid to look at the original in case it would taint what I currently like. I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of Brick Mansions.

Have a look at B13, it's really damn good, even more if you understand french (which is the native language of this movie). I never watched it in english and never will I because my primary language is french. so i cant comment the translation if it fits well or not.

I understand french more so than I can speak it I'm afraid. French was my first language, but because we moved to Ontario when I was a child I had to learn English for school purposes and my parents then only spoke English to me. I don't think I will want to watch B13 because I like Brick Mansions quite a bit, and I don't want another movie taking away from that.

I now see that some sites have an extended cut listed that runs about 100 minutes. Or about 9 or 10 minutes longer than the theatrical cut.

So are there three editions out there, the theatrical, extended and unrated cuts? Or did the news sites get the unrated cuts running time wrong?

Amazon extended
Google Play 99 minutes
Nook video 103 minutes

Guess we'll either have to wait for a review or the back cover is shown.

It's been out in Canada for a few weeks but I figure it'll end up on Netflix.
