There is no DVD only release for this, so if it is listed as Nightbreed from Shout Factory, I would assume it to be correct. The Special Edition (non-limited) will contain a DVD, but the price listed would be significantly cheaper. I'm not sure there currently is any way of knowing the UPC, short of emailing the company.

It is lame since there isn't any physical product to send out yet & then those of us who ordered through sites like Amazon.com still aren't guaranteed to get a copy anyways.

If you were able to order a copy from Amazon.com while the pre-order page was still up then you more than likely secured a copy. Amazon.com has always been good at saying when they have sold out of something and they took down the page as soon as they sold out it seems. But when it comes to sites like Amazon.ca and Best Buy who have the pre-order link still up now and able to order multiple copies I would say you would be taking a risk ordering from those places but it seems that is all there is right now.

I would say them having any in stock right now is low. I am able to add 1,000 copies of it into my cart. Just because you are able to order doesn't mean they will actually have it.

I bet you're right. I had assumed Amazon Canada was as accurate about their inventory as Amazon US, but if you can add 1,000 copies, there's no way they secured that many to begin with.

When do people receive notification that they will not be getting one from these other "iffy" sites like Blowitoutofhere or Best Buy, etc. - will it stay on preorder for 3 months until streetdate and then they tell you they can't get them, or will they know earlier? Never had to order a limited edition that sold out in advance this way except for on Screen Archives for Twilight Time titles, and their inventory is always reliable.

Shout Factory was only able to sell 5,000 due to WB.

That's all the copies they were allowed to create due to the licensing for the theatrical cut for the Limited Edition.

WB apperantly plans to release the theatrical cut themselves at a later date.

So as long as you don't care about the extras, you're set with the DC and future WB theatrical release.

Yes. It happened to me. Best Buy. I thought I was getting a copy of something limited. I checked the day before and it said reserved. The next day. An hour before I get set to pick it up, I log in to start printing my receipt and my order was canceled over night.

I bet most who didn't order a copy from Amazon or Shout Factory are screwed at this point. I wonder how many people ordered hundreds from Amazon to scalp later. I missed out but I do have an order with blowitoutahere and deepdiscount. I'd be extremely surprised if I get either. I'm hoping some show up in stock on Amazon at some point from cancellations.

If I don't get the limited edition I'll get the standard release and forget about it.

Shout had a 2 per customer limit and Amazon had a 3 per customer limit so nobody was ordering tons for themselves.

Yeah, but Amazon.ca doesn't have a limit. I also believe that MOST who didn't order from Shout, Diabolik, or Amazon.com are going to be screwed. You have the 2,300 from Shout and you have just over half of the print run left for Diabolik, Amazon.com, and the few that anyone else is actually able to get.

I flat out wouldn't order it at all from anyone who isn't limiting how many you can order. There is going to be thousands of people upset come launch day.

I love Shout! Factory. They have an eclectic range of titles, usually releasing what consumers want (however niche it may be), as opposed to large studios releasing what they see as highly profitable.

However, I do think it's lame of Shout! Factory to put a title up for pre-order nearly 4 months before release date, especially w/ a limited edition release. I was lucky enough to secure a copy on Amazon but not every Nightbreed fan is so fortunate. Even now, some fans may still be unaware of the pre-order availability due to various, real-life circumstances. Moreover, we're expected to pre-order w/o any knowledge of the bonus content on the discs. I don't know if other distribution labels have done early pre-orders w/ limited edition releases, but I feel it is bad practice.

Actually, when Amazon US first put it up for sale, there was no limit. Well, I don't think there was, because I put 999 copies in my cart and I went almost all the way through checkout and could have bought all of them. I was originally just checking to see how many copies they had for sale there. Anyway, later on, they limited it to 3 and your cart would adjust down to 3 copies. Not sure if people bought hundreds when they were allowed to, but some may have.

Shout and not really anyone else expected it to sell out this fast. A lot of people were crying about the price as soon as it popped out so the price alone had people thinking it would last longer than it did. Couple that with the fact that Shout is also offering the Director's Cut itself for around $20 makes it even more extraordinary it went as fast as it did. People who missed out on the Limited Edition can just get that version so not all is lost.

I doubt Shout had any clue in their head that this would sell out in two weeks. They probably thought they'd be sitting on this thing for a year or two considering the high price, and most likely said, "hey, even if we only sell 2,000 of 'em, we'll still make our money back overall because of the price." They were clearly taken by surprise when 1,000 sold overnight.

Twilight Time does preorders for all of their limited editions, and if it's a horror title, you pretty much have to blind buy it because it will be sold out before streetdate. It's just how it goes these days, and as catalog titles continue to go more and more niche and prices go up for collector's editions and limited editions, we're just going to have to live with it and keep up on what's coming out and when.

Does Twilight Time do pre-orders 4 months before release date? What disturbs me is that Shout! Factory hasn't even gotten all the extras ready in order to release details yet. I can't help but draw parallels to how upcoming games can be shown at E3, yet turn out to be vaporware or how games are released too early and have to have day-one patches, as well as multiple subsequent patches in order to attain stability. I don't understand why Shout! Factory put Nightbreed up for pre-order so early, when they still have so much work to do on the product; why not 2 weeks or even 2 months before release date, along w/ more finalized details on the release?

I was late to order on Amazon (a couple of hours before the page was pulled) so I obviously hope to get a copy, but regardless, I really don't think they operate like that; I'm almost positive there's a system/coding in place to not oversell stock they don't have, considering general items always display a message when their quantity is extremely low.

Oh, I agree with you there. I've been seeing this happen a lot lately, where preorders go up and they're still working on finishing up their product. Some of these companies are still trying to clear music rights, but want you to preorder an autographed limited edition of WONDER YEARS for $500! And they don't even know what their final product will be. Same music clearance thing still happening with WKRP, and that may already be a pre-order already, too. It's pretty crazy.
