I have seen a bunch of prototypes of futurepak/metalpaks that make sounds/light up and do other goofy stuff you guys will be seeing more of these in the future.

So does anyone know if this is a wide release? Amazon has a listing for it too, so it doesn't seem to be a Target exclusive.

edit: Yep, confirmed to be a wide release. So you can remove the Target logo

I guess it doesn't matter much to me since I don't buy metalpak/futurepak releases very often. I just hope the gimmicky stuff doesn't get too out of control, and that goes for any packaging really. That talking Anchorman 2 slipcover was horrible and pointless.

These probably would have been cool in the 90's but I agree no gimmicky crap, just give me steelbooks.

Studios are trying to hit every collectible market they can nowadays and see what sticks.

I've got it preordered on both Amazon and Target. I guess I've got until ~9/16 to make a decision.

Yeah, at least it will have a different SKU than the regular edition since it's not a Target exclusive. You'll actually get the correct item from them!

That's true. Although I've had amazing luck with Target sending me the item I ordered.(i'm shaking my head ruefully at Target, that i even have to say that!)
