More likely, the producers will wait and see if there are enough people willing to spend additional money for a Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos soundtrack. It's something like the early stages of 3D Blu-ray. We started off with the first wave of 3D content from the cinemas, and once there's a sizeable market, the producers start converting older movies into 3D.

The first title mixed in Atmos was Pixar's Brave. I don't expect any movie that's released before that to have the soundtrack remixed to Dolby Atmos.

They never even tried to push the format properly in cinemas. SDDS had little advantages and incentives for cinema operators to include or integrate SDDS into their systems that Dolby and DTS had a firm establishment.

I'll shamefully admit. I'm secretly hoping for that.

Two "older" movies that have reportedly been remixed to Atmos already are "Chicago: The Musical" and the original (and best) "Die Hard."

There may be more remixes to come if they see it starting to take off.

Speaking of SDDS, two of the optional front speaker locations for Atmos are extra left and extra right flanking the center speaker for a wider behind-the-screen sound scape. Objects can be anchored or panned through these speakers. They supposedly are kept in the home Atmos version and accessible if you have a processor with a more sophisticated Atmos renderer and enough outputs.

Pioneer, Onkyo, and Denon have HTiB solutions coming with Atmos enabled speakers.
