I think Rocket was hyped so much because of the comic. Couldn't tell you about anything after the first trailer as I did my best to avoid anything after that. But I agree, I liked all of the Guardians and they all had a moment to shine and got a good amount of screen time.

The hack directing this thing has no clue how to make the audience earn a heartfelt moment, or loud action scene. I guess it fits today's audience though, who are use to getting everything instantly without earning it.

Can a story be any worse? This is syfy channel stuff with a big time budget. Doesnt help we're kept in the dark about whats really going on for about the first hour of the film until del Torro's throwaway character explains everything through super confusing dialogue and flashbacks. Did anybody actually understand any of that diarrhea of the mouth?

The laughable villain? He's poorly executed in just about every way. Poorly designed costume and look. Overpowered. Not scary. Has poor motives. Audience is never given a good reason to hate or fear him. Henchmen are weak and underdeveloped.

And who are the Guardians of the Galaxy saving anyway? A poorly fleshed out planet that we know little about and spend very little time on?

And all the destruction in the end was appalling. It didnt help the final boss showdown was ripped straight out of Man of Steel either, but of course executed poorly.

1 point for Zoe Saldana

All that was there in character moments. Everything doesn't need to be spelled out, as long as you're paying attention it's there. It comes from character moments and dialogue. I mean, some of what I said was even verbatim in the film. Others you can see are there through the way the characters act, like the stuff with Nebula. It's not hard to see it.

I am going to see this Sunday and I can't wait! I have a question though. Are there 2 after credits scenes or only one? Like is there one after the movie is over and then another when all the credits are over?

None of his jokes were really hitting me. I did like certain scenes of his though, mostly the heartfelt ones. I also expected the humor overall to be a lot better in the movie. Nothing made me really laugh at all and all of the crude jokes and swearing felt out of place.

Even Ronan could've been developed more, he was still much better than Elektro.

None of the villains so far in the Marvelverse have blown me away, hoping Ultron and Thanos will change that.

Thanos looked like a punk in this movie he just sit there while Rohan killed his guy and disrespected him to his face and he did nothing. And Drax was the worst they didn't even need him Groot did more then Drax. Don't get me wrong I loved the movie but they made their best villain look like a punk in the movie and Drax bored the hell out of me.

If they do a bad job with Thanos in Avengers 3, then that's just sad.

For those that were unaware, the Mondo posters went up for sale today (all sold out long ago of course, as in within 12 minutes total). The Groot one and red Star Lord variant were SDCC exclusives, as well as the Groot & Rocket poster. My brother somehow managed to score Rocket and Drax, which I don't know how he did because the traffic is insane and makes everything incredibly slow. I didn't manage to grab Gamora which looks absolutely beautiful to me so I had to pay a higher price on eBay for that one, but the bonus I guess is that this seller got it at the con, so I don't have to wait 3-4 weeks! Anyway, enough of me gabbing. Behold:

Ultron doesn't really have much of a character beyond... "Kill All Humans".

And same with Thanos. He wants to kill the entire Galaxy to impress Death.

I respectfully disagree Walt. I feel the characters could have been more fleshed out than what we got and it would have made them more well rounded and improved the movie. The characters do have strong, infectiously fun interplay though. Nebula in particular I found rather 1 dimensional and underdeveloped.

I see where you're coming from. For me, the humor missed more often than it hit, but I thought when it did hit it was pretty funny. I laughed more at the smaller moments than the more in your face humor that sometimes felt a little forced to me.

Very well said, WG. I enjoyed Guardians a great deal, but I think the humor aspect of it was a bit over-sold. It was amusing more than laugh out loud funny to me, which is fine. Star Wars has been mentioned a lot in this thread, for good reason. The feel of the sprawling space saga is strong with this one, and it's been a while since I've felt that. Plus, characters and emotions in my sci fi fantasy? It's more likely than you think. Avengers has the edge in my Marvel-verse, because all that backstory from the individual hero movies is hard to overcome, nevertheless, a great time at the movies.

Magneto and multiple Spider-Man villains have impressed me more so far than the Marvelverse villains. Disney's writers just can't seem to hit the right track with their bad guys. Probably why I tend to enjoy the DC comic book films, their villains are impressive at times.

I feel like raccoon torture and watching the families die wouldn't have made it better. They give us everything we need to know. These are characters we're going to spending more time with soon, and getting to know more of. I'd rather they didn't give us it all at once. Give us the basics, which is enough, because each characters story is there for us to see. Dive deeper in the next film. Not just yet. But all their struggles were defined in this, and all their problems are what brought them together in the end.
