Amazing how some will rationalize their cheap sets. They really don't care about real picture quality (one wonders why they're on blu-ray.com and not on VHS-EP.com). With the pitiful contrast ratios (true contrast, not just dynamic) I can't even imagine trying to watch something like an Alien film on one. "See that dark blob? That's an alien. I think. No, wait a sec, that's Ripley...no, it's Burke...uh...Hudson?"

Standard TV also looks like absolute trash. Now I don't expect great picture but not the bleached, blurry mess that a Vizio gives for standard channels. And black is BLACK. Not dark grey.

Samsung's entry level sets wipe the floor with Vizio.

Videophiles like me and others hope this lawsuit succeed because the QUALITY television market is being hurt by companies like these. I dread the day the generics get a hold of a BD license and destroy the format like they did DVD.

While it's true that companies make product in China, it's different from product engineered and marketed from China. A Panasonic made in China isn't like a Mintek made in China.

I really should not do this but I can't help myself. My dear Peter, do you know what you sound like? "Videophiles like me "? Come on man, don't be so condescending. I own high end equipment and have professionally ISF calibrated video displays. I also own two of these "cheap sets" as you call them. Neither of them displays the "bleached, blurry mess" as you so eloquently put it. Saying the picture is not as good as a more expensive calibrated set is not the same as saying the set is trash and the picture is worthless. Not only does my Fios feed deliver more than adequate results (on both HD and non HD channels, thank you) but the DVD picture using a simple up-converting player is more than acceptable on a 42" plasma viewed from about 8 feet.

You make it sound like the picture is a jumbled mess of blobs and colors with no discernable difference in shading other than muddy white and dark gray, which apparently are the only two colors the set can produce given your experience.

I still think that the Vizio is a good bargain given the price you pay, the 2 year warranty you can get at a Costco, and the size screen you can take home. Face it Peter, some people like boxed wine, rubber flip flops, and flank steak. That does not make them idiots or sub human when compared to "Videophiles" like you. God help them, they are probably even enjoying listening to that piece of trash through a Bose speaker system! My goodness, it is then end of civilization as we know it!
