Default Pawn Shop Scores

I went to one pawn shop at our new place and just could not stop laughing when I walked out. So this is how it all played out. I go to the BluRay shelf. Not a big BluRay shelf but okay. No prices. I pick up a couple of regular movies (not Disney, not 3D, not steelbook, not Criterion, not new sealed, just some regular stuff) and go to the girl at the counter. $12.99 each. I was like Whoa!!! Why so high prices for used movies. The girl says hardly anyone buys BluRays. Hmmm ... I wonder why. Never heard this business technique ... If stuff does not sell increase the price. I guess I will not be posting much hauls here till I find some shop with some better business sense. LOL.

Rant over.

There is an old record store here in town and they also have DVDs and BDs. They have their BDs priced sorta like that as well. They have had most of the same BDs in store for YEARS. They will never sell them, ever. I go in once every few months and they'll have one or two new items, but they never sell. Their selection is growing, but only because they never sell any of them. I've been tempted to talk to those nuts about it but it ends up not being worth my time. Most of their used titles cost more than what you can go to Walmart or anywhere else to buy them brand new.

If you're gonna sell something, get a clue and learn SOMETHING about what you are attempting to sell. It pisses me off more in business principle alone, haha.

Went on a little spending spree yesterday. Picked up 18 movies @ $4 each. Most titles were nothing special, I think the best title was the 2-disc Casino Royale w/slip.

My HD crashed and lost all my movies, so back to physical media I go.

It happens, crappy thing was it failed before I could try to save any of the files. I think I have spoiled myself the past couple days only spending $4-5 per movie. Granted nothing earth shattering.

I did pick up 10 more BD's today, gotta love 5 for $20 deals.

Ouch that bad? I wish I could find more 3D titles at my local pawnshops. I did grab a few slipcovers today as well for $.50 each.

Went to one shop (not a chain) and all their blurays were $10 and up. I would of grabbed a few but they wouldn't budge on prices, told them good luck with the sales and left.

I went to the main shop in town again today, the one where I bought Her a couple days ago, and to my shock they had more new ones. I got the following for just $5 each - complete with slips and unused digital codes...

nice score. The shops around here have to wait 21 days before they can put them out for sale which kinda sucks. Then I have to deal with the employees buying all the good ones.

Average 8 bucks each. Except surprisingly Winter's Tale was $3. It was painful since I have got so used to paying $2 - $4 for anything at our old pawn shops. Now to think of it, prices were not too bad. However one shop did ask for $19.99 for Ender's Game. LOL

I went to another shop today and the morons were asking $15 to $25 for each Blu-ray. The same thing applies to their video games, just crazy prices. At the most maybe a couple bucks less than brand new. You would think these places would realize that their stock on these items NEVER EVER MOVE.

Some of these places around here have had the exact same titles for years. Some of the DVDs are so high priced that they have been there almost a decade now. They never lower their prices, and they have refused to budge at all on the prices. This one place has had Titus - Seasons 1 & 2 on their shelf for years, and they have had it priced at like $60 for many, many years. Crazy.

Someday it will become antique and be valued at much more than $60. You will know where to find a copy then.

Not too bad for a bunch of 3D titles, newer releases, and the Iron Man set (especially if it has the slip).

8$ each?! That sucks, most of my local stores are $3 each, some are $4, a few $5 which I rarely visit. Some have started putting titles on clearance for $1 or $1.50, which I have taken advantage of the last few weeks as well to pick up some titles like Snatch, Heathers, Punisher, and more
