Thanks Bluyoda.
I don't know if the difference between the 5080 and 5090 is big but, a few of your settings look either too high or too low. Brightness should be 0 to +3 on the Pioneer. Brightness and Contrast should be set to 0 on the Oppo. I cannot find any calibrated settings for the 5080, it would be so useful if there were some online. I-P Mode relates to Interlace - Progressive scanning. And will not affect 1080p content. Although its best to set that to 2. And also make sure any power/energy mode is set to Off. If you are watching film content, Orbiter can be set to off as it does decrease sharpness. Have you tested the colour spaces using the S&M disc? Do any of them perform better than the other? The other settings such as Tint, Gamma, Colour and Colour temp, can only be set accurately from using a meter, which is why finding someone's calibrated settings would help. But the settings that you already have for those look ok. Colour temp would be good set to manual and fine tuned, but that can only be done by using a meter or using someone's calibrated settings as a second option. If you are solely relying on test disc's to perform a calibration, then the settings are going to relate to that, again those settings you would probably find not providing an accurate image if a meter & software was used. At the end of the day it is your setup, and I am not there to see the results myself, so just do whatever you feel is right. |

I will look into it when I find some time. Thanks for your time and thoughts regarding my setup.
![]() Concerning the guy's setup: That doesn't look appealing to me at all Brightness +2? No way!!! I used to have it at -3 and 0 on my Oppo. I have found that the Oppo has a stronger effect on the brightness and contrast settings, and therefore chose to use them together with the Pioneer. I know the blue filter method is heavily criticized, but it came out perfectly in my case. Without using the Oppo, my Pioneer can't give me the values I need for accuracy in terms of contrast, in particular, and to a lesser extent, brightness. Why don't you try it, and see if your coloured squares finally show all the variants? ![]() |

You are relying on the test disc too much here. Those sort of adjustments in the player are not needed. The Oppo is a reference player, and thus, outputs exactly what's on the disc, no further adjustment needs to be done. The Kuro clips, this is normal, don't try and adjust to counter it, or you will end up with an image that isn't in relation with the spec. |

If you don't like what you're seeing, i.e. if it's not got enough 'pop' or brightness or whatever, then that's fair enough, it's your TV and you can set it however you like. But if the banding is reduced by using these standardised settings, then what does that tell you? |
