Interesting that you guys all named different titles.

Being a child of the 80's, the movies that I knew about (not necessarily that I watched but knew they existed because of popularity) were Halloween II and The Howling.

The Howling, Lake Placid, and Pumpkinhead have been the titles that I have been most excited about owning since they were announced (UHF and MST3K the Movie being the titles I was most excited about coming from Shout)

Yeah I'd say Halloween 2 or The Howling as well. Maybe an 80's kid thing.

The Amityville Horror was the best box office performer of all Scream Factory releases to date, if I'm not mistaken.

Exactly the same here, plus Lord of Illusions when it comes out. I'm not a big collector so I only plan on getting the titles I know I'll watch multiple times. The typical slasher fare just doesn't do much for me.

Lord of Illusions! Yes! I watched that movie with my friend when we were WAY to young. We had it on VHS and one of our parents took it and said it was too much for us and we could watch it when we were older. I never followed through with watching it and it's had this taboo feeling to me since I wasn't allowed to watch it.

It's weird and ridiculous. Kind of like how I my folks would never buy me Lucky Charms as a kid and to this day, I eat them whenever I see them somewhere (have never bought them for myself) and feel this guilty pleasure like I'm getting away with something.

Really stoked for Lord of Illusions

I've learned I'm a horror fan but not a slasher fan. Large distinction most horror sites seem to ignore.

I agree....especially when it comes to the slasher films released by SCREAM. Something like New Year's Eve just doesn't do it for me at all.

From Scream, I own.....which turned out to be more than I thought, but I love horror. The Battery is the only one I am not in love with, but it was cheap and I want to show my friends in our b-movie fests we have.

Swamp Thing
Ginger Snaps
Prince of Darkness
They Live
Halloween 2
Night of the Demons
Ravenous
Nightbreed
Halloween Collection
Dolls
The Battery
Tales From the Crypt
Pumpkinhead
Leviathan

More than likely, I will buy BODY BAGS, NIGHT OF THE COMET and THE SQUAD.

I like several slasher movies. I have trouble watching movies where prolonged sadism and torture are involved, though.

Of the "slasher" movies that I own on the Scream Factory label, the most disturbing one for me to watch is The Town that Dreaded Sundown, because of one particular scene involving a musical instrument. The sadism inherent in that scene is tough to stomach. Still, the charms of that particular movie outweigh the unnerving moments, unlike many contemporary films of this nature.

Incidentally, after kicking the idea around in my head for a day, I think that I will, indeed, purchase Motel Hell.

Motel Hell is a nice release. Enjoy.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown is one of my fav's from Scream. Such a creepy and well done flick.

Now if someone would just release, Legend of Boggy Creek on blu.

Im more a casual slasher fan.. I have a several slashers but the majority of ones I watched were pretty forgettable to me
Outside of Halloween, and (part of) the Friday the 13th series I have Prom Night, Curtains, Terror Train, Sleepaway Camp, Slumber Party Massacre, Night School and Eyes of A Stranger, Schizoid...probably a couple of others
Im always willing to try some new titles which at times can be regrettable after watching but also, there are some gems out there

I remember seeing bits and pieces of this years and years ago and wondering what it was. It came on recently I think on the MGM channel or something like that. I watched it and I can see how IF you grew up watching it you might love it, but for me, it didn't make me want to buy it or see it again. It's decent.

I love slasher movies! That said, I don't love all slashers. Some can be just boring or not have any great effects or beautiful women or likable characters.

My preferred genre of horror are monster/giant killer animal movies, followed by haunting/possession movies, alien/abduction movies, and then serial killer/slasher movies. I do love a good slasher though.

Would love to see Fire in the Sky get a blu ray release, although it doesn't really seem like a Scream Factory type of movie. I am also pretty ignorant to which studio holds the rights and whether or not they are a studio that licences to Scream/Shout

Maybe its time Scream Factory do somewhat fewer extras and concentrate on better picture quality. Extras are all fine and dandy and Im appreciate it when they are ported over from a previous DVD release, but Id rather have excellent (five star) ***** HD PQ - but it seems like we arent getting the best of both worlds here. We get tons of extras which I know collectors love, but we get a subpar HD presentation (Motel Hell). Im sure that there are reasons for why some titles have a lackluster image...maybe it depends on the elements - with MGM , they are only getting what is handed to them and they arent spending the money to do more restoration because the budget could be going toward all of those extras. This is pure speculation and guess work though
Anyone else think image quality should be the number one focus ? If it id budgetary why not spend more on restoration and less on extras ?

Could be a timeframe thing too. Compare the output of Scream and Synapse. One has to get 3-5 titles out a month, the other gets 3-5 titles out a year.

that could be too, Scream Factory has bosses and deadlines while Don is his own boss and can make his own "deadline"

Absolutely.

I received Motel Hell yesterday, watched it with a friend (who hated it) last night & she asked what was wrong with the disc. And my friend is someone who is content watching AVI files...from a thumb drive...on her Westinghouse television.

The finale is nearly slaughtered itself by poor compression; it's really bad this time. In terms of compression, I'd say this is easily their worst release. It looks hazy in certain scenes.
