You're describing their DVD multi-packs, not their Blus. Many of their Blus are great with lovely transfers.

Happy Birthday to Me & When a Stranger Calls (Why not just both versions of Stranger?)
Because the remake sucks and Happy Birthday to Me is not only a better film, but comes from the same era as the original When a Stranger Calls?

The only glaring issue I found with the Mill Creek doubles was HUDSON HAWK, which had a lousy mono soundtrack when the movie was in stereo (unless it was corrected on later pressings).

Hawk has been fixed and you can get a replacement from MC.

The remake of When A Stranger Calls is a MUCH better film than the waful original. I personally can't even make it through the first one. Happy Brithday to Me is a really solid slasher though.

I wouldve rather seen When a Stranger Calls released with the remake, and Happy Birthday to Me given a solo blu.

BTW; When A Stranger Calls... Back! is the best film in the franchise, IMO. Its made-for-tv I believe but omfg is it a seriously awesome film. Very creep, disturbing, and suspensful. The DVD was one of my most treasured until it was lost.

EDIT:

Mill Creek DOES have the rights to the remake of When A Stranger Calls (but not When A Stranger Calls... Back!, they also have Messenger 2 (the 1st was released as part of a Double Feature with Freedom Land of all things?), and I'm fairly sure they also have Vacancy 2. We know they own Ernest Scared Stupid as well.

So, yeah, a lot of this is just poor pairing on Mill Creek's part.

I just hate when they release a double feature where one movie is already out on BD, and the other is new to BD (e.g. Basic/SWAT). I mean really, couldn't they pair Basic with something else...it's not like they don't have hundreds of Sony titles already licensed.

Just why?
Someone either here on on horrordvds said that they recall these 2 films plyed together at the drive in, that was good enough for me. I'm glad the remake wasn't included and have to disagree with anyone who likes it, I couldn't stand it. Just a step above The Fog redo IMO.

Why make that a 3-film collection instead of just leaving it at Gremlins 1&2 DOUBLE FEATURE? Adding the Goonies RUINED that collection for me. Now, I LOVE the Goonies, but it just doesn't go with Gremlins 1 & 2.
They are all aimed at kids/teens, came out in the same era, and all start with the letter G. Plus there's the other connections mentioned already. There was no way these flicks couldn't find themselves together someday!

But it has nothing to do with Mill Creek.

Airplane features Rex Kramer, who also appeared in Kentucky Fried Movie, which features the film See You Next Wednesday, which appears in most Landis works (Schlock, Trading Places, American Werewolf, etc.). This brings us to Animal House, where Neidermeyer first appeared. He was mentioned in Twilight Zone- The Movie, where Dick Miller plays Walter Paisley. Walter Paisley also appears in Joe Dante films The Howling and Hollywood Boulevard. Gremlins features a character from The Howling (the reporter at the end). Gremlins exists in the same universe as both Explorers and Innerspace, due to a newspaper in the former saying "Kingston Fall Tragedy Still Unexplained" and the latter's company name appearing in the Clamp Building. The sled Rosebud appears in Explorers and also The 'burbs. The 'burbs features Rick Duccommon in the same outfit he wore in Die Hard, whom we never learned the name of...

And none of it happened. It is all the dream of Tommy Westphal of St. Elsewhere.

For this theory to work, one must assume all segments of sketch films exist in the same world, which I do, as Dan Aykroyd appears as the same character in multiple segments of Twilight Zone.

The bigger question is: Why haven't they released any of the Pauly Shore movies they have access too?

You must be referring to their DVD sets because as far as most of their Blu-ray releases, you're just plain wrong.

For Happy Birthday to me, does anyone else notice that
[Show spoiler]it is extremely similar to Scream?

Hate to be a party pooper, but none of those are with Sony (or Mill Creek).

I'll take those as well, but I wouldn't want MC cramming all 4 films on 1 disc. At least make it 2 discs.

Hate to be a party popper, but MC doesn't release just Sony titles. They have a deal with Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures as well. Take a look at some of their other releases. Pauly Shore's films are definitely a possibility for Mill Creek.

Well, Bio-Dome is actually with MGM. The other 3 are a possibility, I guess, but when's the last time Mill Creek announced any new titles that they licensed from Disney/Buena Vista?...They've all been Sony lately.

People need to get it together and release these catalog titles.

If I had to loose one, I'd prefer Bio-Dome...

I thought I read somewhere that Mill Creek is close to announcing another wave of the touchstone/hollywood titles. I will need to research this...

actually, it's a triple pack with Gremlins/Gremlins 2/Goonies. I have no prob with that and own that collection. They're close in the alphabet and those movies do appeal to the same age group

Yes! The weasel is sorely lacking representation on Blu-ray. Encino Man is a bona-fide 90's classic.
