Hmm...I'm not entirely sure if and when iTunes / Hulu films end up in the Collection.

I remembering seeing guesses about this when the newsletter came out.....but it's hard to imagine Red Sun in the Collection.....oh, how the Criterion snobs would howl!!!!
Why? It's not like Criterion has done nothing but art films in its long, illustrious career.

Sometimes they do, other times not.

With Watership Down, I suspect we'll see tomorrow. Possibly December.

Yeah, but two films is not that big of a box set, also i would expect (or hope) they upgrade at least one box set a year, like last year with the upgrade of John Cassavetes (unless they have counted the Tati set as more of an upgrade).

Anyway last two years they have also released a box set on december so there is still time if something we expect isn't announced for november, but my guess is they would probably announce Vol 2 of World Cinema Project for that mont.

The UK iteration of the WCP project has hit a wall this year, with Masters Of Cinema reporting that volume 2 of their box-sets has been delayed due to rights problems. I'm not sure if this will effect the Criterion set.

so be careful! like another poster said, you should be able to buy replacement packaging, so your recent story should have a happy ending.

There's a special outdoor screening of The 400 Blows in the UK next week, and to commemorate the event the folks in charge, Film4, have commissioned this print. My copy arrived this afternoon, and is now framed and taking pride of place in the living room of my new house!

They do seem to end up eventually (or at least some do), but Scanners was available on iTunes in HD for about a year before the blu release date (with a different transfer, too - unless Criterion updated it) - and as Polaroid pointed out, Eraserhead had been on there for even longer. I don't imagine we'll see Watership Down until sometime next year at the earliest.

Like Father, Like Son was released last month by MPI (DVD Only)

A Raisin in the Sun didn't it end up being The Big Chill?

I have a question that is Criterion related only on the fringe. In anticipation of the July sale I started a 2 month free Barnes & Noble membership. It worked so well for me that I decided to let it convert to a full paid membership for the next Criterion sale. During the trial period I was getting 20% off coupons by email. Now that I have paid for my membership I just got a 15% off coupon. My question is this: do the coupon percentages always vary for members or are they normally 20%?

Ah, I remember you telling me that now. I just forgot to delete it off the list.

Also, regarding the ARINS debate, I still have a hard time believing it could stand for The Big Chill, considering there was already another clue (the people dancing). I'm going to keep it for now. Hopefully we know soon haha.

+1 on Pursued. Tall in the Saddle is another one not on that list. For newer films, there is always Red Rock West with Nic Cage!

Also, the tv show Longmire.

I don't know. I never get the email coupons, just the snail-mail coupons which are always 20% (for one item). Maybe I should investigate why I'm not getting codes via email.
