Default Do i need a truehd A/V receiver for my PS3?

Do i need to get a receiver that has truehd and dts hd in order to play my bluray movies on my ps3???

No, in order to play TrueHD or MA audio from your PS3, all you need is an HDMI connection in your audio receiver.

That reciever doesn't accept PCM. In other words, you won't be able to get any type of HD audio with it. You need a reciever that is a HDMI repeater, not switcher. DO NOT GET THAT RECIVEVER!

What's your price range? If it's $200-$300, then check out the first link in my sig (Onkyo 605). If it's $500-$600, then look at the second link in my sig(Onkyo 805).

thanks guys... i was getting info on the yamaha 663. i dont like the onkyo might be good but i just dont like the looks. it looks like a old receiver and not gloss material... going for the yamaha 663 for my ps3.. so my questions was answer you do need a receiver that has truehd and dtshd

no, not with the PS3.

But most of the newer receivers out now offer that option anyway.

You could even get the Yamaha RX-V661 that does not decode trueHD or DTS-ma...it will accept 7.1 PCM though so with the PS3 it would be fine.

But investing in a newer receiver is probably wise (newer technology,warranty etc).

Yamaha RX-V663 is a great way to go.
