Default Optical to Analog?

Right... I don't use HDMI. I use analog signal to get 7.1 sound from my laptop to my 7.1 speaker (Creative T7900).
My PS3 only output 2.0 Sound (left/right), so while I can enjoy BD in full 7.1 from my laptop, I can't do it from PS3 - therefore I am thinking of using optical cable, but my speaker does not have optical, but instead 4 analog plugs.

Is there a decoder/amplifier that may convert optical to 7.1 analog channel (4 cables).

Yes, but it's not practical.

How do you get 7.1 from 4 analog inputs?

Yeah, I saw that. That's not possible. Actually, now that I saw that, there is no way you can get optical (5.1) to analog outs (7.1) without matrixing. You'd have to have a reciever to do matrixing.

4 cables, each carries two signals. like front left/right in one cable, subwoofer and centre in one cable, etc.... till 7.1 (8 speakers)

Matrixing is all done in the receiver's "software". It does it internally.

It would be cheaper to just buy Pioneer's new PCM over HDMI capable receiver. List is $299

okay, I am willing to buy it in future, but can I use it for 2 devices (3 actually). My two PS3s and my laptop (it has analog cable natively though, but it also have HDMI).

but before that, please see the diagram, and suggest me alternative cheaper option....
You know the back of PS3 looks like, so I don't need to include it

also, for your information, my speaker support 5.1 natively, but can spread it to 7.1 without any tools. It also support 7.1 natively. There is a switch at the back to choose 5.1/6.1/direct sound.
