Salem's Lot is with Warner, so unfortunately Scream won't be releasing it. Nevertheless I hope Warner will put it out next year.

Yes, I am. It's got a little cult following. Plus it's better than Plan 9 From Outer Space, yet we all seem to love that one.

The comic-strip colors would look fantastic in 1080p. Unfortunately Dark Sky have an almost non-existent record of catalog titles on BD, although their limited edition set of TCM will include the DVD(s) of Eaten Alive.

It might not be financially worth their while to release certain titles themselves, but I don't understand why some studios won't license them out and make at least some money on them. To me, licensing out titles and making some money > sitting on titles and making no money.

WB and Lionsgate are sitting on a lot of stuff that studios like Shout Factory would love to have. Why they don't want to make any money on them is anyone's guess.

wow, facebook just said lifeforce is now out of print.

Quote:
***LIFEFORCE News***

We want to alert you today that our “Collector’s Edition” release of LIFEFORCE (which came out in June of 2013) is now an out-of-print item and will be replaced with another version.

Here’s what will be different about the new product on all future pressings:

- The vintage “Making of Lifeforce” featurette will no longer be available.
- Artwork is slightly different: The original theatrical artwork (pictured here) is now front-facing, and the Justin Osbourn-created piece will be on the reverse wrap.
- We are removing the “Collector’s Edition” branding.
- Slipcover will not be offered.

Because of these changes, we felt it was only fair to also drop the price. The “Collector’s Edition” release had a suggested retail price of $29.93. The new version will be $22.97.

If you already bought the Collector’s Edition version – like most hardcore fans of the film did – then this strategy does not affect you except that the CE version is now more “collector-y” than before.

Additionally, this change-of-plans in unique only to this release. This is a special case that was unforeseen so please do not be concerned that this will happen on a regular basis with other Collector Editions.

Street date for the new, lower-priced version is set for 9/9.

[Show spoiler]

Wow, how unusual. Glad I picked it up when it first came out (although I do that anyway :P ).

I wonder why this occurred?

The rights on that doc must of expired after a year. Took them a couple months to realize that.

Or not, I dunno.

I think MPI (aka Dark Sky Films aka Gorgon Video) is slowly getting back into their catalog titles. With the releases of Death Spa, Dan Curtis' Dracula the upcoming 40th Anniversary release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and all the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series, they've been more active in 2014 than they'd been in years.

Yes, they've been significantly more productive as of late, so I'm hoping the Gorgon imprint isn't just a 'one-off' with Death Spa. There are several Dark Sky DVDs that I'd happily upgrade.

I should've waited on LIFEFORCE.

I immediately threw out the slipcover, as I always do.

I never watched the documentary.

And who cares about the artwork?

I would have rather saved a few bucks instead of blowing money on pointless bells and whistles.

Thanks for the notice on Lifeforce, guys. Went ahead and ordered the original version before it shot up in price. I only really care about the documentary, which is probably crap anyway, but oh well. Good to have the better version.

Edit: Oh, it's a making-of from when the movie came out. Never mind, I'd rather save $10.

As we all know, Shout Factory puts out the Movies 4 You sets. Well, I just found one on Walmart's website and only there. It features four films from the Roger Corman line involving the water: Piranha, Humanoids from the Deep, Demon of Paradise, and Up from the Depths. Has anyone else found this?
