I need to check the thread to see when the last time I saw Trick R Treat, but I think I'm def due!!

This year I'll be leading off with Eraserhead Criterion, just have to wait for the preorder to show up. The next 2 weeks is going to take a while.

Let's get this party started!

Species IV: The Awakening - 9/10

A perfect balance of substance and fun, dark and light and shades of grey.

I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver my latest horror purchases. I picked up Sleepaway Camp and Piranha 3D. Now they just need to get off their asses and deliver this package.

I'm ready for October. Just got in The Legend of Hell House and am waiting on my Halloween deluxe set to come in. Leading the 31 days off with these. I've been doing this marathon of horror movies for years now can't wait.

I don't watch a lot of horror movies throughout the year, almost all of them are binge-watched in October, so I always look forward to my October marathon

I'm going to see how much I can watch this year with school going on and the like. I'm taking a class on women in the horror film this semester so that'll help.

1. Bride of Frankenstein (1935) -Fun film. Like it better than the original.
2. Young Frankenstein (1974)* 1/2 -Very good. Pretty funny overall. Didn't meet my expectations though.
3. The Vampire Bat (1933)* 1/2 -Decent. Nice atmosphere.
4. Curtains (1983)* 1/2 -Really enjoyed it. Atmosphere was great although the pacing is all over the place.
5. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931)* -Nice to finally see this. I love earlier horror films and liked this one. Great performance from Fredric March.
6. Psycho (1960) -What needs to be said about this? Absolute classic.
7. Pumpkinhead (1989)* 1/2 -The atmosphere in this is fantastic. Acting was little iffy at points though.
8. Tusk (2014)* -This one was hard to rate. May change later.
9. Madhouse (1974)* -Decent Price film. Plays like a retrospective of his career.
10. The Legend of Hell House (1973)* -Another fantastic atmospheric film. I haven't read the book in awhile but I think I still liked that better.
11. Halloween (1978) -The absolute classic. A masterpiece.
12. Prom Night (1980) 1/2 -Very good slasher. I like it better than Terror Train but not as much as Curtains.

Start of October:
13. Scream (1996) 1/2 -Modern classic. Love the humor in it.
14. Annabelle (2014)* 1/2 -Pretty meh and predictable.
15. The Mummy (1959)* 1/2 -Enjoyable. Cushing and Lee and both great. Loved the SFX on the mummy.
16. Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)* 1/2 -Takes awhile to get going and even then it's just ok. Nothing special.
17. Dead Snow (2009) 1/2 -A little slow starting out but picks up nicely.
18. Cabin Fever (2002)* 1/2 -Enjoyed the gore effects and there was some good humor but that's about it.
19. Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead (2014)* -Probably the most bonkers and bat s*** crazy thing I've ever watched.
20. The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964)* 1/2 -Not a bad sequel.
21. Candyman (1992) -One of my least favorite horror icons but it's not a bad film. I prefer the setting of the second one to this.
22. The Skeleton Key (2002)* -Pretty good. Loved the atmosphere and the twist was decent.
23. Demons (1985) -Enjoyed this much more than the first time I saw it. Gore effects are great.
24. Demons 2 (1986) 1/2 -Still not a fan of this. The gore effects are pretty good though.
25. The Mummy's Shroud (1967)* 1/2 -Another sequel that isn't too bad.
26. Alien (1979) 1/2 -Incredibly atmospheric and terrifying.
27. The Blob (1988)* 1/2 -Lots of fun with great gore effects.
28. Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (1972)* 1/2 -Again, not too bad. No real mummy in this one though.
29. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)* -Fantastic.
30. Horror of Dracula (1958)* -This was great. Probably the best Hammer film I've seen so far.
31. Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966)* -Good sequel to the first film. Lee's Dracula is great.
32. Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968)* -Another good sequel.
33. Dolls (1987)* 1/2 -Can't go wrong with Stuart Gordon. Great flick.

I typically don't either, I usually reserve this time of year for horror / slasher films.
