Image is releasing Into The Woods (1991) recorded live with original bway cast

Led by the legendary Bernadette Peters just in time for
the Disney x Rob Marshall's adaptation in theaters this Christmas.

I'm happy this is getting released on Blu-Ray. Although I feel like the quality will be
just as bad as UK's Cats. I'll buy it anyway.

Also, if you want to see the show in glorious HD,
Digital Theatre released the recording of Regent's Air Theatre production.
Which is also gorgeous and outstanding.

And the DVD had uncompressed sound. I guess the only upgrade here will be a VERY slight increase in picture quality. I'll only be buying it because i never bought the DVD.

I am excited for this, but wish they would do a commentary or something to make it worthwhile. Even include the PBS interview that aired alongside this main feature back in its original airing in the early 90's.

I saw this on Broadway the week it opened. The DVD was fairly good. Hopefully both the sound and picture will be improved. Not sure how this was originally recorded which will of course limit the quality.

Probably one of these. Each of the cameras would feed into one of these bad boys and record to 1 inch tape.

Hopefully not. Looking for some sort of HD source such as film.

Speaking of film, a Movie version is due in the movie theaters at Christmas.

I was talking about the original recordings or, more specifically, how they were done. Nowadays of course they'll be using an HD rig of course.
