I've received a couple of blu rays where the artwork had small tears in it due to the stupid eco cases, but those can be hidden if you put them in non-eco cases.
What really bothers me is when I receive a dented digipak/books, or one that has rounded corners. I generally prefer digipaks to plastic cases, especially in box sets of 10+ discs, but they are a real risk to buy. |

If its something from the $7.88 walmart bin I dont care if it is alittle banged up. But if I'm buying a steelbook or any collectable packaging then I care alot! Like when I was buying the walmart Walking Dead season 4 Limited Edition set I made sure to inspect every copy to make sure I was getting the best one. Some copies of the set had the Alex Ross artwork printed at a weird angle, or the box corners were crushed in. And if your buying one of those sets for damn near $50 bucks they should be in perfect shape. If not it feels like your paying retail price for a used copy.
I wouldn't feel so bad if my Hey! Arnold Complete Series set had a slight ding on the case. Isn't it like $14 bucks for 99 episodes? |

Sadly, as someone with pretty strong OCD tendencies, I can relate. Often it depends on how much I love the film in question, but ultimately, I know it's all in my head. I know I never used to be so picky when I started collecting movies on VHS. I've been known to pay coversites for high-res versions and then have them printed out professionally for a couple bucks just to fix the 'problem'.
![]() I do find that a lack of sleep always exacerbates things, though. Take a deep breath, find some tea and try and focus on the most important things in your life. (Hopefully friends and family, but I realize that not everyone is that lucky.) ![]() |

damn pansies. battle scars are good. i don't want movies that look like they've never been watched, books that look like they've never been read, guitars that look like they've never been played... to quote the great Tyler Durden, "I don't wanna die w/o any scars, do you?"

I'm very OCD about those minor hairline 'scratches' on a disc. The disc has to look FLAWLESS, otherwise I just don't 'feel right'. It doesn't matter if it's just a minor scrape and not an actual 'scratch'... it needs to be replaced. Fortunately, Blu-ray discs are mostly flawless at the time of purchase, even when I buy them from Amazon, so I've had good luck.
But as far as cases being dinged a tiny bit in the corners, or the artwork itself having minor imperfections, I really don't care. All I see of those cases 99% of the time are the spines. I'm not going to pitch a fit about the art itself. But, I'm not going to rag on anyone for wanting the packaging to be perfect. I don't understand returning something because one of the cardboard corners of a slip aren't a perfect 90 degrees anymore because of shipping, but whatever. People who spend their money should get the product they want... but they should also be aware that ordering and getting something in a bubble mailer may come with some less than ideal 'dings' in the corners. |

I used to be an absolute perfectionist when it came to my Blu-rays being absolute mint. And then one day I just thought, "this is why I'm not getting laid".
![]() In all seriousness, it just occurred to me how crazy it was that I was losing sleep over a chip in a slipcover or something. I still take excellent care of my Blu collection - more than any regular person should - but I won't freak out if I accidentally crush the corner of a slip or if it arrives that way in the first place. Like someone above said, as long as the discs work, what's the problem? No one's staring at the artwork. |
