And I must also be blind as a bat ! Some people try too hard to see issues with Scream Factory releases because of whatever animosity they feel - Then after they have convinced themselves that their releases are just so poor, they then try to convince other forums members of the same thing and spoil the actual good reputation of Scream Factory. The board is diverse. If you are happy with your purchase, who cares what these naysayers think. They are probably people kicked out of the Scream Factory Facebook page for being excessively annoying..
Then they come here and cause false rumors, exaggerated claims..

About to start my second Scream Factory title of the month: Rob Zombie's Halloween. Two minutes in and already annoyed by the stupid redneck characters that curse more than Randal Graves.

Once the dumbass redneck of a father is killed off, it actually gets alright. Not great, but pretty good.

I noticed some shots had slight noise reduction but it is far from offensive. Not all of the grain was removed. Just reduced which didn't bother me.

Do you have the Halloween Collection already? I was unaware Scream Factory released this otherwise.

Rob Zombie's Halloween is one of my top five least favorite movies of all time. For me, the movie just gets everything wrong. I did not like the exploration of Michael Myer's background. Worse than that, though, I did not like how the movie never really acquainted us with Laurie and the other teenagers. I was bored out of my skull during the final 20 minutes, because I have nothing invested in Laurie and did not care what happened.

A lot of my friends love the flick, though, so I may be in the extreme minority.

The sad thing about it is that I thought that Rob Zombie's previous film, The Devil's Rejects, was an intensely effective horror film, because he did such an amazing job depicting some truly feral villains that struck me as quite realistic.

I agree, Michael did not need an explanation, it was better when he was just evil, as Dr. Loomis said so many times, he was pure evil. When Rob made him psychotic because of his upbringing it ruined it for me. Some things are better left a mystery.

It's also another take on the character, which doesn't mean the original movie is now destroyed. I think Zombie tried something new and had so so results, the first movie was a lot better than the second one that's for sure. I think it's better he tried some drastic changes rather than play it safe and just churn out another Halloween Resurrection. Give me RZ's H1 over that any day.

My problem is Rob cast a hulk like Tyler to play Michael. I couldn't see anyone getting that large eating hospital chow.

If I was fed that everyday, I would bust my chains and make a run for it too.
But seriously, I preferred the character having more mystery as well.
What I really would have liked to have seen is how John Carpenters original anthology idea would have turned out. Not sure if there would have been a middle ground, it would have been fantastic or a colossal mess.

I've got mixed feelings regarding this movie. Michael Myers is famous for being a killer without any real motive; he's just an unstoppable killing machine. On the other hand, I thought that the hospital scenes were the best parts of the film and found Zombie's choice to set up a backstory refreshing as opposed to other remakes which have tried to recreate the original almost shot for shot. Yeah, Laurie wasn't fleshed out nearly enough and the final half hour or so of the movie isn't great, but all in all I think Zombie's interpretation was entertaining. As far as H2 goes, yeah that one was probably my least favorite in the series. Although RZ did have a few interesting ideas, none of them were implemented as well as they could have

is that sarcasm? because those are the 2 most identical sets of sreencaps i have ever seen on that website. i've heard alot of moaning on this release, and after seeing these screencaps, i don't get what the fuss is all about. maybe a 2-3% strength dnr pass was done stateside... but thats pretty much about the only difference.

There's no DNR on the Scream Factory disc compared to Arrow's. It's the compression artifacts that have messed up the grain. It has become larger squares or shapes with a checkerboard-like apperance. DNR doesn't look like that.

Here's an example.

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...=201#vergleich

Scream Factory's encode is trying to preserve the grain (the top part of the zoom has it almost intact compared to Arrow) but the rest is a heavily compressed mess. With the amount of grain dancing around on screen during playback, the difference will be quite dramatic. I assume that's why blu-ray.com's review gave the picture quality a score of 2.5/5.

Something very familiar about all this...

Why would anybody actively hate a label unless they have quality control issues? It's okay if you don't see these issues, consider yourself lucky, it took me years to recognize edge enhancement, I wish I could take it back. Don't try to silence others to push Scream to do a better job on their encodes, you may thank them someday when you get a bigger display and finally recognize compression issues.
