Did you do a firmware update recently? If so, that will disable firmware-based functionality.

You need hardware-based functionality as normal firmware updates will not disable this type of functionality.

For example, machines that have ICOS multi-region modifications from Multi-region Magic, meet this criteria.

This seems interesting but how would you update the mod with protection from firmware?
I don't understand your question, but if you're asking if you will be able to update firmware with new Sony firmware normally via file download or network, the answer is yes.

ICOS hardware-based modifications are a completely separate module from firmware module and there's nothing to update with ICOS module.

You can also verify this by contacting Multi-Region Magic, if you like.

Yes, multi-region functionality cannot be disabled by routine Sony firmware updates.

Please note the following on the BDP-S1200 product page:
http://www.mrmdvd.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=1605

" Fitted with a ICOS modification to enable Multiregion Blu-Ray & DVD playback
(Blu-ray Region's A,B,C & DVD Region's 1-6)

Unlike some modified players from other supplier's this Blu-ray player is updated to the latest firmware version and is upgradeable with future firmware updates.
This is a UK model with UK specification and comes with a 1 year warranty

Blu-ray regions are simply selected by using the players remote control. DVD region selection is automatic

Either should be fine as that decision would have to be made by you.

I would download the user manual for each and visit your local shop for comparison purposes to see which one appeals to you.

Then order that one from Multi Region Magic.

thanks for the help

personally i dont hate samsung products even though i have one but rather prefer Lg equipment i guess its a personal thing lol

but i think ill look into the sony modded player ..cant see any sony equipment being cheap and nasty even their mid range gear so ill lean towards that.

thanks again.
