Familiar yes, which means I am consistent with what I write thank you very much for pointing that out.

And of course there is *Bad* aka STALE Sandwich who is back after a lengthy suspension , doing the same thing he was suspended for. Leaving comments which I have blocked because he represents a forum trouble making "troll" if there ever was one. The kind of person who would be kicked off the Scream Factory facebook page for being just that. The saying haters will hate is certainly a fact here. I will continue support this brand because I know as well many others know they do above average quality with the masters that are given to them from MGM, Fox, and Universal when they had a deal with them last year..

Some of us do not want or can afford a 100" screen that takes up the entire living room , 40-60 is a perfect size for watching blu ray movies

That doesn't mean others should suffer because you're happy with an above average product. The fact is that there's room for improvement, and I see no problem with customers pushing Scream to do a better job. For the record, I will always love Shout Factory for their work on MST3k.

A Bigger display certainly helps in recognizing them, but ultimately the quality of the display is what really matters. As I've stated a few times in this thread in the past, on my cheaper smaller tv's/monitors compression artifacts can be anywhere from minimal to annoying, however on my primary display (a top of the line 60" Plasma) artifacts are rarely if ever noticeable based on what others are describing. Even during direct comparisons of my own digital copies I've created where i can readily identify problems on my cheap smaller display, these problems rarely show up on my much larger plasma despite me aware of them and actively looking for them. LED/LCD technology, particularly in the mid range and Budget priced category's, can cause minor issues with compression, edge enhancement, etc to be significantly worse. Scream may have some problems on their end that are worth addressing, but I'm willing to bet that the people that seem to have the most problems with these encodes are also viewing them on displays that exacerbate the issue to a degree that many of us simply cannot see. This seems to be a recurring problem with some people and not others with all of Screams Disks. I haven't viewed Motel Hell myself yet, so I cannot state with certainty that I won't change my stance one I've viewed it, however based on the screen shots, and the past history of the many other titles that have had similar reviews/responses and my own experiences with them, the one thing I can always point to is the wildly different results people seem to get based on their displays.

Well, I finished Halloween '07. Shocked at how much I actually liked it. Much kudos given to McDowell and Douriff, who do incredibly well playing different versions of the character.

I will finish off the franchise before the month's close. Also, The Devil's Rejects.

There is room for improvement from every studio - nobody is perfect, and Scream is getting their masters from the studios. You want perfection ? Open your own blu ray company and show us how its done. Id like to know

"Suffer" ? Suffering over what, alleged compression issues ?? If thats what you call suffering, imagine a toothache !

Again, the problem is not with the masters that Scream is getting, but the encoding process they choose to use. You do not get compression during the mastering process.

I didn't mind it either after my first viewing. I think the people that are the loudest naysayers of it grew up loving the original, and anything that isn't the original was doomed from the start. Speaking for myself, I grew up finding the Halloween films to be incredibly boring and didn't become a big fan of them until more recent years, so I was able to appreciate Zombies effort more so than a hardcore fan with years of nostalgia.

Yes, nothing but non-stop "trolling" here. That accusation is so stupid and misguided it's a burden to even address at any length or expenditure of effort, to be frank. My comment history is open for all to see, like everyone else's. If you're dismissing me as a "troll" I shudder to think how you would react to, you know, an actual troll. Would you just have a stroke on the spot?

Yeah, absolutely nothing has changed over there. Not even low-budget Mill Creek does encodings this poorly. I can only guess at what they're doing wrong over there, but the fact that they've changed nothing in over two years despite the complaints tells me they don't take the problem very seriously.

Or maybe it is just not a problem and you continue to force yourselves on people who are not interested in these compression issues that you are trying so hard to convince people of. This just goes beyond nitpicky. Why not create a *Shout Factory Compression* thread where some of us don't have to read this endless dribble and this thread can be about title announcements again. If people are happy with their purchases why don't you just leave them alone

It's clear you have no idea what compression is or how it's caused.

There is nothing alleged or nitpicky about it, it's a real issue. Even this website's reviewers have found it worrying, like for Motel Hell.

One would think it would be in everyone's interest to get the best Blu-ray quality possible. It amazes me that not everyone can be on the same side on this.

It's not a gargantuan task for Scream/Shout to do this right. It's basically a software/settings issue. And that's the sad part, knowing that these releases, cemented forever into the history of Blu-ray, could have been better, with very little added efort.

If you are happy with your purchase, why do you take it personally when someone points out the technical flaws? I'm not attacking you for buying a disc, so get over yourself.

The compression problems with Shout Factory discs are real. They are documented. They are clear as day for anyone who knows what bad compression looks like.

I love the films in the Shout catalog and I want them to do better. If you fanboys can't handle that then just add me to your ignore list.

You wish it belongs here, you are just too lazy to create a new Scream Factory whine away thread. Go vent elsewhere. Nobody except the few compression believers care to read it.

Youre forcing alleged technical flaws on people who aren't interested. Make your own thread with the other half dozen who care about it. You will be ignored, I will take you on that offer. A person that supports Shout does not make them a fanboy. You are complaining about a technical issue that many do not care about or do not even see, so you need to stop forcing people to read your dribble. Maybe more should ignore you
