Do the same as the rest of us!
Bite the bullet and regret it later if you pick the wrong player
It is the exact opposite of the car industry though, you buy the expensive car and because it's expensive the fuel is made to suit the car.
In this game though the car (as in the expensive player) is made to suit the fuel (as in the disc's)!

Invest in a ps3 its the best blu player on the market right now. Not to mention mgs4, resistance, warhawk and other great titles available for the ps3. That purchase you will not regret. also $400 for the latest game system and blu player. Not a bad deal.

true, and you are lucky, in france the price was 600euros (for 60 Go ps3) i was able to get it for 520(july 2007 ) but now (for the 40Go) it s 400euros and i think there s a blu ray offered.. well you can still wait for the next price dropping but i guess it won t be anytime soon, lol 400 dollars for a blu ray player and a next gen console is good i think, just need to make some savings, lol

The kid's have a PS-3 and only use it for games as it has no multichannel analogue outputs for me.
I work for a Rental Co. so it cost me a whopping 0 dollars and we have about ten 60 gig unit's sitting there doing nothing!
The boss wants to sell them on E-Bay thinking he'll make a profit.

I've spent thousands over the years on Home Theatre and it was easy b4 I got married a second time to a younger Women and ended up with two more mouths to feed and no extra cash to feed them with.
I need to win the lottery just to keep up with my lust for BIG AND LOUD.
I attached a pic of my Home Theatre but I'm new too and don't know how you'll access it!!!!!

PS3 is easily the best future proof investment.

All you can do is wait.

Early adopters pay for research and development.

Do you remember how much first generation DVD players cost in 1997? I do. I cannot justify selling my LD/DVD combo player because I paid so much for it. I will never be able to recover the purchase price. Now, you can pick up a DVD player at the grocery store for $19.97.

Wait. Seriously, the sales will be coming in Q4 along with more players from more manufacturers (competition usually drives down price). A few weeks back, Wal-mart was offering a $100 gift card with their BD players (incuding the PS3). You could have picked up a Samsung for $348, a PS3 for $399 or a Maganavox player for $298 and got the $100 gift card. I expect we will see even better sales for the holidays. Just have some patience

As a Mac lover, this was no surprise though. There is a large culture of Apple people out there that are very loyal and dedicated.

You forgot to emphasize that you can pick up a BETTER DVD player at a grocery store for $19.97. My grandma's $300 or $400 one she bought a long time ago (Sony, even) isn't anywhere near as good as my $30/$40 one.... Go figure!

Are you really ready for Bluray?
If $400 is too high, what kind of set are were going to use?
What audio setup were you going to use?
If you take all of the components needed to fully appreciate bluray, the $400 unit is probably going to be the cheapest part of your entertainment investment.
