So it will be on October 22nd? Next Wed.? Wow.

I don't know if I'll be able to manage it but that sounds cool. Technically, I already have it but a signed copy by the director... that's pretty awesome.

On the topic of Woody Allen titles by Twilight Time, I'd gladly welcome a one-a-month release schedule. I doubt that will happen but it would be really great if they started releasing more per year.

Does Twilight Time releases usually have English subtitles? i am interested on Judgment at Nuremberg and Inherit the Wind, but so far they are not marked on the site.

They usually have English SDH subtitles but not regular English subs.

It's excellent.

Second, why can't I find the preorder spot for it at SAE? Thanks.
Because it's a December release, and pre-orders for the December releases won't be up until most likely November 19. TT releases are generally up for pre-order about 3 weeks before the street date.

I second OilDude's good, responsive comments. I would only complicate things a bit given that you ask whether folks think you'll like it "if [you] like Stone's other Vietnam films."

I think each of the pictures in Oliver's Vietnam trilogy stands and is best evaluated on its own merit. Platoon puts us on the battlefield. Born On the Fourth takes a look at the impacts those battles have had on a soldier, his life back at home and his politics.

If I may be so bold, Heaven is even more complicated in that Oliver takes a look at the war from a woman's perspective (his screenplay is an adaptation of two books by women) and addresses politicultural issues in Le Ly's (the female lead) relationship with TLJ's character. Two years before Nixon, seven years after Platoon, between JFK and NBK in his filmography, in its scope and sprawl I think Heaven is the work of an even more mature, accomplished director than Platoon or Fourth. Oliver has opined that the reason the picture didn't get more critical acclaim and notoriety is because the industry tends to only be able to coalesce around one Important Movie each awards season. That year it was Schindler's List. (But I personally have no problem mentioning both films in the same breath.)

If you don't like it, PM me. I'll happily buy your copy to send to my Dad (who did two tours of duty in Vietnam) to upgrade the DVD I gave him years ago.

Over on the Twilight Time Facebook page there's a photo of Lou Diamond Phillips signing copies of La Bamba for a future monthly pre-order promo.

I watched The Blob (1988) last night, and I watched The Believers this afternoon.

I've posted my thoughts on these two Blu-rays in their respective dedicated threads, but the short version is that I could not be happier with either one. Twilight Time has gone above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to making my Halloween season even more exciting.

The Blob is so much fun, but do not let the massive hype for that Blu-ray keep you from checking out The Believers as well. They're both outstanding horror movies, but for vastly different reasons, and they both look great in high definition.

Nice. I hope it's for their January releases (Fright Night, Breaking Away), but I imagine it'll be sooner.

Will the UK version play okay on my USA blu-ray player?

(I also noticed that they raised the price recently on La Bamba, even though they announced they will print more than 3000 copies by adding an extra bonus feature)

"In June 2014, Twilight Time officially announced they were re-licensing some of their sold out titles to be re-released, a departure from their initial stance that all titles would be strictly limited to 3,000 units. Though they had said they had previously considered re-licensing some of their titles, this was the first confirmation they had done so. Twilight Time will not be re-releasing all their sold out titles, only the ones they feel they can improve upon. The reissues are planned to be completely new editions to standout from the original releases, for instance, having new bonus features and/or new high-definition restorations. The first four reissues are to be released in 2015. It is confirmed that three of the first four reissues are Christine, Fright Night and Journey to the Center of the Earth"

This doesn't mean La Bamba will get re-released though and it if did get re-released down the road it won't be for years given it was just released. In regards to the price, La Bamba is still $29.95 and hasn't increased in price.
