I think Ouija might win the box office by a small margin, but I hope I'm wrong and John Wick takes it. Lots of positive reviews surrounding that one, calling it Keanu's big comeback to action. So for the sake of a potential Speed 3, I'm pulling for John Wick.

I'd love to see John Wick take top spot with Fury having a minimal drop...but at least the former probably won't happen I've seen pretty much nothing of John Wick in terms of advertising or promotion. Will hardly be the first quality R-rating actioner in the past several years to die a quiet death at the BO.

R-rated Action/Revenge flick with an aging star (sorry Keanu -- you know you'll always be my guy).

vs.

PG-13 rated Horror flick with a young, attractive cast.

I've gotta go with Ouija. Also, I think that some of the audience that would have gone to see John Wick might get sucked up by Fury.

Both movies have had their fair share of advertising on cable TV. I think I've seen more TV spots for Ouija overall, but there's definitely been some repeated commercials for John Wick as well. I know because they keep replaying the same line from Keanu: "Yeah, I think I'm back." Could go either way I feel, but with horror fans dying for a horror film so close to Halloween, Ouija may have the edge.

Yep, PG-13 horror over R-rated action flick most days of the week. I would say that you could also assume that some kids will buy tickets for Ouija to sneak into John Wick...but nah. From personal experience they'll more likely buy Alex or Book of Life, just to make their intentions even more obvious.

EDIT: And it's almost Halloween.

I saw a TV ad for Ouija, which I never heard of before, and laughed my ass off at the fact it existed.

Still, my tastes are nowhere near mainstream.

Ouija is primed for a big opening weekend (like most PG-13 horror flicks), and then will fall by the wayside next weekend (again, like most PG-13 horror flicks).

Yeah, it looks ridiculous. But once it hits HBO or whatever, I'll watch just for Shelley Hennig (I still miss "The Secret Circle" - so sue me ).

Ouija looks horrible. Yet another generically bad teen horror movie.

I'm hoping for John Wick to kick its ass at the BO.

Weegie looks awful. So it'll probably win the weekend.

Of course I'm rooting for Keanu

Pg-13 Tweener horror flick in an easy win.

Wick is pretty dumb and I predict nothing good from it.

I think the excitement is mostly online-based. Your average moviegoer that doesn't pay attention to reviews doesn't seem to think this looks very good. I've heard from countless people how stupid it looks. I want to see it. Just doesn't have the makings of a big breakout hit. It's tracking at around 8 Million for the weekend. I do not see it breaking double digits. If it does well more power to it. Just not really feeling it.

Seems your "prediction" has been creeping up every day. Didn't you first say this movie would only make $4 million for the weekend?

I initially thought 4-7 . Didn't realize it had IMAX screens which should help a bit.
