I was unable to pre-order but I'm now trying to get the box set, though I know my chances are slim.

And the ones that 'are' currently available are already nearly double the original price!?

Disc 57ish here (but I was watching the show for a long time before the Coffin set was released)

We have the coffin set & actually we had the set with the signature of Jonathan Frid & sold it! We are working our way to this coffin set as we have worked our way up to The Original Series Dark Shadows The Beginning Collection 4 of 6(phew this will be a lot of watching before were done)!! We are thoroughly enjoying these as they are a throwback to better times with their subtle supernatural/spooky atmosphere!!!

A couple of years ago I watched some of the first season of Dark Shadows in The Beginning DVD collection (these were the pre-Barnabas Collins episodes) & was quite impressed; very moody & atmospheric show & setting; the large, isolated mansion on the hill with the ocean below; the mysterious inhabitants of the house with dark secrets; the eerie music, etc. Though the show was before my time, I can see how it would become addictive even to those who didn't like daytime TV; I remember reading stories of kids running home from school so they could catch the next episode (in the days long before VCR's & VHS tapes)...

At this point, I want to continue watching where I left off, but honestly can't remember which episode I last watched - IIRC, the plot in the last episodes I saw involved an incriminating ring?! that was found somewhere on the beach by the sheriff or someone else.....

This is true because, I was one of them. I'll never forget Angelique and Barnabas. Those were the good old days!

I am currently around episode 667 or so. I do recall the storylines you mention but I can't recall... but you mentioning them makes me wish there were more episodes with Burke esp with the original actor who played him. I love those early episodes also. I just love the regular group of actors but I do love Grayson Hall who later joins the show as Julia Hoffman.
