Oh cool, I didn't know. I was just half-arsing the speculation there. Nothing new I'm sure, but we're probably almost overdue for the next film that pushes the boundaries of cgi realism.

EVERY Star Wars movie has pushed the bountries of SFX. From the first Chromo Key stop motion against a white background in Empire to the first main character in a movie to be complete CGI in EP I (yes it was Jar Jar). I hope we see ILM do the same with the new movies!

![]() Interesting video but I've been fool before - that ship in Episode 3 looked pretty familiar too until Lucas decided to ruin it for the fans. This could be a Jedi mind trick. And was that the tumber attached to it right at the end? ![]() |

Young Sherlock Holmes predates the water tenticle by two years, and that dragon predates Jar Jar by three. The MCP in TRON was 1982.

![]() ![]() The John Williams Fan Network heard from a source that Star Wars: Episode VII composer John Williams will be traveling to Los Angeles to score new music for an Episode VII trailer on November 15. "JW received a trailer from JJ Abrams on Monday, Oct 20," the site says. "Still determining if the score will be recorded in London due to advanced age of composer/conductor. 14 hour flight to LA not too kind on 82 year old." Jason Ward from Making Star Wars points out that Abrams usually teases his movies "with stuff not from the film itself" and that a Christmas release date for such a teaser seems possible. "I have heard we would see the Star Wars 'kick off' really begin at about the one year mark before the film," Ward writes, "and this lines up really well with that." http://theforce.net/story/front/Rumo...nth_160550.asp |

Probably no LSO then for old time's sake, but I'll take Williams' involvement over that of a certain orchestra. Hopefully he'll be in good health for a few years yet, but the torch will have to be passed eventually.

![]() I do hope he'll last to the end of this trilogy, at the very least. Which shouldn't be impossible considering it'll be over in just half a decade. If the spin-offs after (and before?) that are scored by other composers, no big deal. |

![]() People complain about Lucas and the cgi way too much. While his use of it hasn't always been great, he was way ahead of the curve as usual. Here is an article of behind the scene shots for the Marvel movies. Notice anything? http://whatculture.com/film/31-aweso...mcu-movies.php The big problem with Lucas was he used it at times where it clearly wasn't ready like putting Jabba into Star Wars Special Edition. But you can not deny that the sets looked fantastic in the prequels and now everyone is using digital extentions and sets to get more into thier movies. The digital doubles and such are also pretty common now too. So many films benefit from what Lucas did. That is why I laugh when JJ says he is going back to practical effects and people cheered - it isn't what effect you use, it is how you use it. With Williams, you really don't need his involvement that much. You know they will use the main theme as well as some of the other themes. The rest can be done by someone else and most of the audience would never know the difference. In a way, it would be better not to use Willams - if you want this to be a fresh start, you need to start breaking away from the old stuff and this is the easiest to do. But then again, hard to suck up to the fans when you do that. |

As I said, it was released by Apple on March 11th 1999 with a ton of Fanfare alongside the new Quicktime (4) and the new Sorenson (v2) Codec. The whole point was that it could very have an online only (or "first") release in December, if "Into the Woods" does not match their target (in terms of audience type/ popularity). Somehow I don't see a teaser premiering in front of Big Hero 6, but I'd love to be wrong about that ![]() |
