It is amazing that one generation (GameCube) completely flops, while something that is, as you say, really a souped of version of it suddenly explodes. Go figure the fickle consumer?

But, who is buying the Wii? I very much doubt they are being snapped up by people that would have otherwise purchased a PS/3.

alot of the people buying Wii's don't purchase many games....

think about it...they bought the Wii because of a gimmick and cheap price.....how many games can MOST of these people own?

Wrong, wrong and wrong.

For the month of May, total software sold in units
Wii-1,466,828 ( almost a 50% attach rate)
PS3-575,430 (close to a 39% attach rate)
360-1,623,210 (close to a 25% attach rate)

These are all United States #, thanks to VGChartz for the info.

I'll NEVER buy the Wii due to lack of HD support! I've played it at a friend's house, weren't that impress... I believe the reason why it's doing well is the price, it's one of the next-gen systems out, people can't afford 360s or PS3s because you would also need a HD TV, Wii will play on any TVs and it's the only way to feel 'hey I own a next-gen console!' at a affordible price.

That's interesting.

A 39% attach rate for the month would seem to be pretty good. Yet, whatever the games they were buying weren't enticing enough for non-owners to get a PS/3.

Title support is lacking... Seriously. The big boon the PS3 has going for it right now is the Blu-Ray support. Unforunately it looks like it'll be 2008 before I see games I actively want [largely due to my taste in games].

For the month of May, total software sold in units in Japan

PS3-29,018 (close to a 3% attach rate)
360-47,807 (close to a 12% attach rate)

The PS3 is being killed by the Wii, and in May by the 360 in Japan....wacky.

Funny, people respond to your posts and yet you choose not to respond. Probably because your arguments suck. You only choose to respond to the very few where you have any footing. Hmmm, personality defect?

In 2 posts earlier I blew out your weak argument but you chose not to address data driven criticism, you just run back to posting the same thing.

People who are buying a Wii and making it explode like this are those who didn't game before. Old people, parents, etc. Nintendo expanded the total market for themselves with the WII and that is why its selling so well for so long. What old person will go out and buy a PS3?
