PS3 VS 360 Overall Console Sales Figures

Does anyone else think that with the abysmal sales figures of the xbox360 hardware in Japan (and to a lesser extent Europe) that sometime in 2008 the PS3 will overtake the 360 in overall hardware sold worldwide?? Wouldnt that eventually shift all the games developers focus onto the PS3 thus creating more exclusive games for the PS3 or if they are multiplatform they will optimise them for the system and then water them down for the 360.

It will definitely happen. The PS3 is SO powerful compared to the 360...and I'm tired of the HALO fanboys...there is nothing special about HALO.

thats true, I own an original xbox, ps2, xbox360 and ps3 and my experience with halo went like this:

HALO: Bought it with my original Xbox, played it and completed it.Thought it was ok but nothing special.

HALO2: Bought into the hype, got it on release day, completed the first 2 levels in campaign mode. Put the game away and have never played it again.

HALO3: Never bought into the hype, Havnt bought the game yet and I dont think I ever will.

no doubt. once the PS3 gets it's key games released, they will be top dog. some of those key games are -- Gran Turismo 5 (btw, in first person mode you will be able to look around via the sixaxis), Grand Theft Auto 4, Killzone 2, and God of War 3. we are lookin' good for 2008 and beyond!

My best friend was torn between the 360 and PS3...but bought into the hype and got the 360 for HALO 3 I was pissed. I asked him what he saw in HALO that wasn't in any other 1st person shooter and he couldn't give me an answer!

I didn't know about the sixaxis thing that is insanely sweet...Yeah all those games will be amazing!

what I meant to say in my original post was with the ps3 selling well in europe and killing the 360 in japan would that make the World Wide sales figures better than the 360. I know the ps3 has allready overtaken the 360 in japan. Ive edited my original post to show this.

Halo was fun at first but I just don't think it's challenging enough. The most challenging part of it is trying to find teammates that have any stratigical skills for online play.

And I'm tired of ALL fanboys, even if they support my gear of choice. Because by definition a fanboy is someone that doesn't know the whole story and just talks smack about anything other than what they have. Because what "THEY HAVE" is the coolest just because it's what "THEY HAVE"

I can't wait 'till we finally get a ps3 game that utilizes all of it's power and just makes us go

Yeah I agree about the fanboy thing. And, yeah the PS3 has all this power...they just need to take advantage of all of that and take a HUGE step forward!

I don't see this happening for quite awhile. The PS3 is gaining ground due to being a known quality movie player, but gaming is still lagging due to lack of titles. They are coming, but very slowly.

I heard the main issue with this is that the Cell Broadband is so different from anything else, that to effectively utilize its potential they have to program games in an entirely different way. I'm thinkin' most developers don't want to have to be completely re-educated on programming. But when we get some overzealous programmers that just want to LEARN LEARN LEARN it will be on for sure. I'm excited

i agree with you that the PS3 is a great blu-ray player, but i think your take is a little off. the majority of PS3 owners dont even know there system is blu-ray capable. if every PS3 owner bought even just a couple Blu-ray movies, sales would multiply by 25 (guesstimation).

Most people I have talked to are disappointed with their 360. Everyone i've spoken to have had to replace it. Given this and the durable rep of the PS3, I think the PS3 will easily overtake the 360 in sales.

Between faulty systems and newer better consoles, I've had 5 of them Too bad there's still a few exclusive titles or I would've gotten rid of my latest one already.

2008? Not a chance in hell. I'm guessing earliest is holidays 2010, if at all before the 360 successor is announced.

And, based on the software sales, I'm not expecting any massive non-moneyhatted 3rd party exclusives to be announced for the ps3. Indeed, the last massive exclusive news was probably Monster Hunter 3 going from the ps3 to the wii.
