System Software Update v8.01

Hit the kill switch on the monster powerbar. That seemed to work. Haven't had any issues with the system since. Nice of them to give away Destiny & Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare themes for free.

Yeah, I wasn't going to say anything but it just seems like gamers will never be happy with anything. We all gripe and complain to Sony to provide us with these updates and when we get them they're still not good enough.

As for me, now that I have custom themes and soundtracks the only other things that I really want/need for PSN are...

1.) DLNA (Which is coming. Sony already announced it)

2.) Friends notification (Which I'm sure is on it's way)

3.) Pause/Resume downloading (Which I'm sure is on it's way)

4.) HBO Go (Thought we'd have this already. Not sure what the deal is with this).

That's pretty much it. Sure it'd be nice to get a few more of the apps that X1 has like ESPN, FXNow FoxNow, USANow, etc. However I don't know if exclusivity deals with MS restrict PSN from getting these or not. With or without them, I'm pretty happy with the PS4 feature set if they would just add the 4 I listed.

You can do that now. Just press X to pause and X to resume (I think is what the button was). I had a bunch of stuff downloading from the store but paused them all while playing Destiny and then resumed them once I was done.

Glad Sony got the stereo 3D blu ray option in there last time. 2.0's MP3 USB insert sounds good. I'm guessing they load onto the PS4 and play during gameplay this time. That would be great if it's what I'm hoping it is.

Whenever I put my PS4 in rest mode, I'm unable to turn it back on. I try using my controller and the power button, but nothing happens. I have to shut off my surge protector in order for it to come back on.

Also I have 32 saves that are "unable to upload"... WTF!!!

Also, thought it was kind of weird to offer "voice commands" but then not allow them to work with some games. I guess it is controlled by the game but I was surprised that trying to take a screenshot and video by voice in DriveClub didn't work. It was blocked. Same with Destiny, which I can understand a little more but anyway...

On a more positive note, I've been able to go to the store even after playing games and doing other stuff so maybe that is finally fixed.

Looks like there's a "hidden" feature in the patch.
The PS button is now contextual, and if you see it in a notificaion, you can press it to access that part of the UI which relates at that moment.

The trophies are linked to this, so when you get a trophy in game, you can press PS to go see what's up in the trophies.

Probably not a big deal to most people (including me), but huge Trophy hunters might be pleased.



On a side note: Come on Sony. The update has been up all day, and the update page on the PSN website has not been updated from the 1.76 version, and patch notes for 2.0 are not up...

I hope I don't have to do that again. I have not tried repeating the rest mode to on yet.

I never got an upload save data error until this update so after.. I got 62 notifications back to back to let me know.

Yep, noticed that PS button feature while playing.

I foresee another update to this update so maybe 2.00 won't last long. However I've noticed PSN lacks updating the latest firmware version right away on some sites. PS Blog for example.

Just tested mine again this morning. Everything worked fine. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Ray O. Blu, that is what typically happens with me with the store unless I access it when I first turn on the PS4. So far, knock on wood, I've been able to access it just fine after playing games but if it is still happening with you, maybe I've just been lucky. It wasn't a 100% failure pre-2.0.

I've also gotten a bunch of can't upload data to online storage but in that case, I figured the message itself was finally working more consistently. I've been in that mode for a while, where I didn't have enough storage but wasn't getting notified of the failed upload. I went through and deleted a bunch of game saves though but haven't had a chance yet to see if all these failed messages are legit or not.

I think it happened to me again because I reset my router while it was in rest mode and downloading stuff. I need to play with that some just to verify that though but even so, you shouldn't have to cut the power and make it go through the file system repair just because you lose internet access.

Another weird thing is that it seems to spin up my drive briefly just before turning off (going into rest mode).

It happened to me last night. I held the power button down for about 6 seconds and it turned off, then when I turned it on it restarted, but it seems to be ok. I would advise people not to use rest mode until Sony sorts this out.

Surely you'd think Sony would have spotted this in testing considering so many of us are having this issue?
