What shows and movies are you guys watching where you see Cumberbatch all the time? No one has ever responded when I asked that. I have seen him in literally two things.

I saw him in a supporting part with Hiddleston in War Horse... and Star Trek 2.

So two things for you too. I saw him in Trek and one episode of Sherlock. I don't feel like I'm drowning in Cumberbatch, but people keep acting like he's everywhere.

I don't watch much tv, what I do is ... uhm... streamed....
But everyone talks about him like he's the hottest person in the world, to which I say, those girls are blind...
And there are articles about him all the time, and most people want him in other things just based on his non-existant looks.

I only ever saw him in Into Darkness and though he was one of the worst actors I've ever watched and also very ugly.

Sherlock has been very popular among the Whovian crowd. Also in Star Trek, The Hobbit, 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate, Tinker Tailor, the Ford Madox Ford miniseries, the Darwin movie, War Horse. . .

Only one of those I have seen other than Trek and Sherlock was Tinker, Tailor, which I forgot he was even in. Sounds like War Horse is the other big one... not my kind of movie.

I don't think that's all that much, really.

He's also in the Hobbit trilogy as Smaug and Sauron, but those are obviously not parts you'd recognize him in if you didn't know it was him.

I've actually never seen The Hobbit because I didn't like Lord of the Rings.

Obviously, he is likely heard about often as a young, talented actor. He'll do great in this role and become even more popular as he broadens his audience. Please, let the looks discussion go. He's not hideous and believe it or not girls like him for his intelligence and confidence, but I'm sure the guy's stature and voice don't hurt either. He's a lucky bastard.

So Cumberbatch is confirmed? A bit meh for me as there are plenty I would have cast before but I'm sure he'll be good. Marvel have a good track record with their casting.

Confirmed negotiations, but I'd call it a lock. He knows what he's getting into, and surely entered into negotiations planning on getting the deal. Now's time to get the big paychecks early on and have the rest of his career to pick and choose his parts wisely. His buddy Hiddleston has probably been waving him over to that side of the fence.

For a villain I'm hoping it's Dormammu or either Umar. Possibly both. But where would Shuma-Gorath fit in? I don't mind Benedict Cumberbatch being Doctor Strange.

I always thought Pedro Pascal (Oberyn from Game of Thrones) would have been a great choice for this character.

At least you said you're willing to give him a chance, and that's what it should be. Exactly that.
I think Marvel are doing just that...playing it safe. They were being a bit edgy with Phoenix but lost him (dunno why he would get cold feet for a current Marvel superhero flick).

McGregor was in the frame and I personally could really see him in the role, brilliant choice plus he's also a choice outta left field.

Now its Cumberland pie or whatever...indeed a safe choice after losing their first quirky choice. Very much a case of using the hot commodity right now and playing it safe (if its confirmed).

I just think you're being a Cumberphobe...what was the last film that had Cumberbatch as the main star and was a huge success?

Cumberbatch wasn't my first choice, but the man can act and he essentially looks the part. No doubt he'll do a fantastic job. I just think he'd be a better villian.

I'd save Dormammu for a sequel. Show his face or something at the end as a cliffhanger so Strange can fight him in the next film.

Do you think it would warrant a sequel? For some reason I picture Dr Strange a "one and done" film. I say bring in the big guns, and if its well done and popular give it a sequel.
