My audio randomly shuts off - Blu-ray Forum

audio from the player straight to the T.V., with no Reciever/surround sound right????

Then my bet would be a "hand-shake" issue ..... the signal isn't accepted by the t.v. for some reason.

I concur - a hand-shake issue. The only other thing is try a new HDMI cable.

That's right, I don't have any Surround Sound or special audio equipment; just the speakers on the TV itself. One HDMI cable going straight from the player to the TV.

What exactly does a "hand-shake issue" mean?

EDIT: Alright, now I feel like an idiot. Although I don't know if this is the source of the problem but I just checked out the back of the TV and noticed two red & white plugs running from the Audio Out to the stereo bellow it for Video/Aux (however the stereo is not turned on just on standby). I think I should test this out next time and watch a movie to see if that's the cause of the problem. What do you guys think? Possibly the HDMI and stereo interfering with each other?

I agree with Beta Man and Prerich. It sounds like you're having an HDCP hand shaking issue. HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection, and it is a copy protection scheme to help prevent bit for bit copying of high definition audio and video content. If two components in an HDMI connected chain cannot reconcile the HDCP signal authentication process you can have a loss of sound, picture, or other issues. It's most commonly comes up with older HDMI equipped HDTVs.

I would suggest checking with your TV manufacturer to see if they've issued any firmware updates or notices regarding this issue. You're probably not experiencing interference from the analog inputs and HDMI input.

Alright, I checked Samsung's website for a firmware update and found this for the LN-T4042H:

This firmware will correct the following phenomenons some units may experience.

-. Intermittent Audio Drop-Out with HDMI connection
-. Intermittent Video Flickering with HDMI connection

So I guess that should solve that. Now I need to actually watch a movie to fully test it out and I have nothing right now. But once I do, then I'll see. Thanks for your help guys.
