I want an Ultimate Edition of the ROTS score with all the movie score. And Id love a release of the AOTC score as it was originally arranged before Ben Burtt mangled it

Skywalker was the first dub stage to implement Atmos.

Disney Animation, Pixar and Marvel all release in Atmos.

The production team from Star Trek Into Darkness is working on this film.

JJ Abrams likes aggressive state-of-the-art soundtracks.

I'd say it's a safe bet that it will be.

The Force will be stronger when Dolby Atmos installed in IMAX theaters.

I play Commander every day. The limited time Halloween campaign should be fun.

IMAX is fiercely proprietary and will not install/play any format but their own.

They have just announced their 7.1.4 format (12 channel) that is supposedly object based.

Now let's see if theaters upgrade.

Default (Only One Sequence Shot in Imax for Ep.7)

From the article:
We’ve known for a long time that director JJ Abrams and cinematographer Daniel Mindel are shooting Star Wars Episode VII on 35mm film. Over the summer we learned something else: at least some portion of the film was shot on IMAX cameras. The photo that confirmed that data (above) showed an IMAX film camera, not one of the new digital systems used by Michael Bay on Transformers: Age of Extinction. So we know that the production is sticking with film.

Now we have a bit more info on the particulars of the Star Wars Episode VII IMAX shoot. As it turns out, there might be only one big IMAX sequence.

In a piece on the evolving role of IMAX in narrative filmmaking, Variety reports:

“The benefits outweigh the headache of shooting on Imax cameras,” says Abrams, who used them for a single sequence in “Star Wars.” “The opportunity to have an action sequence for this movie done in Imax’s natural format was too delicious an idea to pass up. As a filmgoer, it’s something I want to see.”

That might be a bit disappointing to some people who were hoping to see a great deal of Star Wars shot on IMAX film.

wow, he jumped onto the 3D bandwagon with Into Darkness and now he is following Nolan and doing big action scenes in IMAX. Boy that JJ is imaginative

What are you talking about? JJ doesn't like 3D and STID was converted at the insistence of Paramount. STID was partially shot with proper 65mm IMAX cameras two years ago so JJ's been "following" Nolan for at least that long.

Hell, I think JJ has used the IMAX height to far greater effect than Nolan has done so far...

Man JJ, what a fraud. Why can't he shoot at 48fps on the Red Crapic cameras so we can see a Star Wars more in line with the visual qualities of The 1978 Holiday Special. I want my Star Wars to look like a bad daytime soap!

Wow principle photography has wrapped already? I figured it would go until year's end, or even into the 2015 a bit. Impressive.

It seems that Carrie Fisher pulled it off - she did manage to look decent again. This recent photo is pretty flattering:

Wonder if they will CGI enhance any of the older actors. I would hope not, but I wouldn't put it past Hollywood today.

I can't see Kathy or JJ pushing for that. And there is no reason for them to even consider it. The characters and actors are the same age.
