I ordered the LE from Amazon.com back when it was still only a 5000 copy run. I managed to get my order in before the listing was removed due to being sold out. It was 55.98. That was back in July.

More recently, Amazon.ca dropped their price to 55.99. Seeing as I live in Canada, and not the US, I decided I'd save myself a little money and get it from Amazon.ca and I cancelled my order from Amazon.com...

Fast forward to today, well suffice to say I am more than likely not going to receive a copy from Amazon.ca (in part to their own stupidity) and am now "forced" (read: not) to place an order with Amazon.com once again...at the swollen price of 71.97 plus tax (plus the terrible exchange rate).

The moral of the story, children, is....Well there isn't one, other than I'm a total nincompoop.

THE END

Geez, I might have written this exact post myself! Ended up spending way too much on this after expidited shipping and gift wrapping bit there was just no way I was gonna miss out on this one.

The K-Mart site was an absolute bust. Got it for around $53 and got charged then it never shipped. Have talked to customer service 3 times so far and have heard 3 different stories. I've heard that it was "preparing for delivery"... I've heard that it was "not available at this time at the warehouse" and finally they're just supposed to refund me. I finally just bit the bullet and ordered it from Amazon. I know if I put it off for too long I'd be stuck trying to get a copy off of e-Bay.

Should've just stuck with my original Shout or Amazon orders considering I'd already have it by now.

I e-mailed customer service and asked if they could honor the previous price that I didn't mean to cancel, and they did. It shipped, I have it...I'm sure this will be cheaper and start showing up elsewhere, but just happy to have a copy and be done with it. Thanks Amazon for the great customer service!
You're the second person who's told me that Amazon honored the original price, and yet when I asked them yesterday about honoring the original price they said to me (in so many words) "SUCKER".

I'll preface this by saying that I was never a great fan of Nightbreed as a movie in its original form. I'm a huge Clive Barker fan -- absolutely LOVE the first Hellraiser and his early books -- but Nightbreed, aside from its very cool concept never struck the right chord with me. I always thought that Clive missed its mark as far as telling the story and utilizing the monsters as much as he should have. I even went back and read the book Cabal, thinking that would fill in what it is I thought was missing from the movie, but I was also greatly disappointed in the story there. But I still wanted to love Nightbreed, having forced my way into watching it several times over the decades, hoping that it would grow on me as I matured, much like Blade Runner has. Unfortunately, It only got worse with each viewing.

Yet, I was still very hopeful and happy about the idea of the Director's Cut being released. I wanted to finally see what it was that got gutted from the film and hoped that it would change my mind about the movie once and for all. With great disappointment, I must confess that this Director's Cut is not any better as a film than the original Theatrical Cut. Fortunately, it is a complete film -- it's not the cut-and-paste Superman II: Donnor Cut that I was thinking it might turn out to be -- but what we get doesn't make the movie or story any better in my opinion at all. As a matter of fact, I think it's inferior to the original cut. I wish I could side with Clive Barker on this, and I respect that it is his work and his choice of direction that matters most, but I really don't feel that the film suffered at all by the studio wanting the film cut the way it ended up being originally released in theaters. I actually think the theatrical cut's ending is superior, despite it deviating from the original story.

There's not much really added to the film that makes it any better as a Director's Cut --
[Show spoiler]some hallucination sequences with Boone, a scene with Lori singing, more scenes with the priest and the redneck sheriff, and a very different ending
-- other than that it's all very minor changes. Very disappointed there was not more scenes with Shuna Sassi, Peloquin, or Baphomet. Those were the most coolest monsters, to me. I can see why the studio wanted to push more Chronenberg as Decker -- he's the most interesting character in the film.

If you like Nightbreed, you'll probably like the Direct's Cut, but in my opinion, it is not any better a film than it was before, which leaves me still wanting more from the concept. Hopefully, we'll eventually see a television series, which I think it would work great as.

The blu-ray packaging is really nice, though.

I kinda figured, Amazon were going to request the damage copy to be returned eventually, as I've stated before. Be sure to contact Amazon, and ask them to send you a prepaid return shipping label (if they haven't done it already), so you won't have to pay for return shipping out of pocket. If you don't return it, they are going to charge your credit card again for the replacement, that's been shipped out to you. So don't procrastinate, and return it to them ASAP.

This brings up a question: Did the makers of Lost name the character Boone because they thought he was going to be a benefit to the castaways? If so, they sure tossed that idea away quickly.

The name was chosen for a reason in Nightbreed. Boon means a gift or benefit. I think A. Boone was really a boon to the 'Breed only if you believe that the monsters were never meant to be hidden away forever. I like that. Peloquin said Boone wasn't a savior but a destroyer, but I think he was meant to destroy the status quo and his job as savior was always to find the 'Breed a new and better place in the world. The Wall of Prophecy shows that the Naturals and the 'Breed were both born from the same place, but a rift developed over time. Perhaps his ultimate job would have been to heal that rift.

Please don't take offence, but I find your tone in your replies to be a little condescending.

I'm fully aware on what to do and have already pro-actively contacted Amazon to resolve this matter.

I have a package arriving today from Diabolik.

Totally disagree with this. Decker is one dimension and not even interesting. I love Cronenbergs films but an actor he is not.

But I did get a copy of the unlimited free from the user I accidentally sold my amazon preorder to, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.
No offense dude but you didn't "accidentally sell" anything, you were willingly trying to shop your Amazon order because you wanted the cheaper price from BIOH.

How do you sell a pre-order? Am I just out of touch or something?

I'm over it. And I wasn't being negative. I also didn't ask for it back. You and your brother benefited. Probably the cheapest shipped price quoted without a partial refund. I wasn't trying to make it a negative. I made a mistake and I'm living with it. If I knew there was actually a chance blowitoutahere wouldn't ship, i wouldn't have forwarded my amazon preorder to you. I had a weird feeling about it, instinct that you or your brother didn't order a copy from blowitoutahere because of some reason.

I really appreciate your kindness for gifting me the standard combo. Thank you again.

I preordered on Amazon for $60 shipped with tax in July. And on Oct 18, I ordered a copy from blowitoutahere for $50 shipped with tax.

I was confident enough that blowitoutahere would ship that I forwarded my amazon copy to jdw89 for $50.

He told me how much his order was and he didn't want it because he wanted his BIOH order so I paid him for that and he changed the shipping info and everything.

I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to have it at a good price, but you did PM me and ask me to send it back to you if you didn't get one of your orders, I have the PM to prove it, that is why I sent you the regular edition.

I did. Something to the effect of I might ask for it back if I don't get any of the 5 I ordered by December.

You generously offered to send me a copy of the standard combo.

I accepted.
